Anyone think Geathers is our starting NT next year?

All I've been hearing and reading is about how much *** he is kickin' out there.
He may be built more like a 3-4 DE but I think we have our future starters in Hatcher and Crawford there. I'm really looking forward to see what Geathers does this year. It would be great to hit on another undrafted guy on the DL like we did with Ratliff. My prediction is in some capacity Geathers will start on the DL next year and will see a good amount of snaps this year. He's slowly becoming my pet project

Isn't the dude something like 7 feet tall? NTs are usually a little closer to the ground,,,,, DE would be a good spot maybe...

Not unless Rat completely poops the bed this season so not likely.

NT, C, S, WR were all pretty much ignored this off season and they are going to be the downfall of this team, this season.

I know you cant answer every position in two off seasons but it is a bit disappointing to watch them somewhat ignore the trenches.

Theyre also usually 325+ pounds and Ratliff has been a beast at 285

I do not think he will be a starter at any position this year . I do not think he will even play all that much the first half of the season unless there are injuries

He's just too tall to play well inside on a regular basis. He's going to be a very good DE though. Maybe he'll be able to play occasionally on the inside of a 4 man front. My suspicion is he'll play almost exclusively outside.

he gets spun around too much on run plays. still plays too high. he'll be used marginally on passing downs.

If we have to go deep at corner, OL or LB, Geathers isn't a lock to make the team.

I agree about the height thats why I said he would probaly be more suited for DE but everyone said Ratliff was far too light and lacked ideal power and look what happened with him. This guy has the ideal power part down

yep i agree.

Here's hoping someone can make a good DT one of these days, it's about time Dallas accidentally hit on a NT after an entire Decade of 3/4 D.

If you were to pick a pet cat to contribute Hanna, Holmes, Leary, Hamilton, Crawford, Wilson and Wilber are showing up.

If he consistently stayed low he could possibly play NT even at that height, but unfortunately he still has trouble staying low. Brent, Callahan, and Lissemore are the other NT types on the roster behind Rat.

I think he is close to a lock. He will be at the center of all of our kick blocking units and IMO on the field on 3rd down a decent amount. Brent on the other hand if we are speaking NT, i do not see as a lock to make the team.

I like Geathers chance of being on the roster better than one of either Spears or Coleman.
