If we stick to the 3-4 does anyone want to see a starting lineup like this:

Ware - Carpenter - Ayodele - Ellis/Draft Pick/Free Agent

I think Carp was starting to catch on in the outside spot. I guess if we can replace Ellis with better talent I would do it.

I'd like to see anyone replace Brady James...something to get his attention and get focused again. Ditto for Roy Williams.

I agree. I am leery of Ellis making a full recovery. Keep Carp at starting SOLB and bring in Ellis on passing downs.

Put James on the bench indeed.......in fact....I would like to see this as our LB group next year

FA
Tully Banta-Cain

Draft
RD Player School
1 Jarvis Moss Florida
5/6 Zak DeOssie Brown

Depth Chart

Carpenter / DeOssie
Ayodele / James

Agreed....James needs to sit his arse down. Carp would make a much better inside linebacker in the 3-4.....much better.

Keep Carp on the outside please. He really came on at the end of the season.

Carp might have a future on the inside due to his lack of height and inability to have an effective pass rush. He is only 6-2.. Most of the 3-4 OLB are 6'4 or 6'5 unless your a freak like Adalius Thomas and carry 270 like its nothing.

Carp would be better suited to be on the SOLB side on running downs and then but him and Burnett on Passing downs (nickel). Brady is better and more physical at the point of attack and Bobby is still a year or two away from physically maturing more to be effective taking on guards every single play.

yeah, I heard Ellis mentioning Julian Peterson the other day but that's just wishful thinking. Hell Peterson was waht 26/27 recovering from an achilles and not 31.

Yes, Carp showed potential towards the end of the season, but did he show any improvement in his pass-rush ability? I didn't see any.

Seriously, go back and watch the games with Ellis and see what it's like having OLBs that can both crush the pocket. It's a thing of beauty.

Put Carp inside where he's better suited.

It must just be me BUT I feel Ayodele is the one that needs to be replaced on the inside.

I'd rather keep Carp as SLB.....

Maybe so BUT not by much. Ayodele is a nice player but nothing out of the ordinary, imo. Thought he'd be more of a factor, more of a play-maker. Both are threading thin ice.....

Outside of Ware, Ayodele was the best LB of the group. The ice beneath his feet couldn't get any more solid. He wasn't expected to be a world-beater, and to be quite honest he succeeded my expectations. Of course, he should only improve next season.

I don't think the extra few years is going to matter much in regards to Ellis ability to come back from a tendon injury. I'd imagine it's more a case of genetics and hard work. We know, at least, that he'll put in the hard work.

Well, hope he proves me wrong. Wonder if he can be an effective MLB cuz we're switching back to the 4-3 when Lovie or RR comes on board as HC.....

Ayodele is purely a run stopper, nothing more. He should sit down on passing situations.
I'm mixed about James.
I think Adalius Thomas and a DC with a clue would fix most of what ails our D. And maybe a Jarvis Moss or Anthony Spencer in the draft.
I also like the potential of Hatcher for next year.
