Wow, just wow! I was born in '71 and had no idea what a special season that was. The RB didn't speak to the team or media the entire season. Two starters at QB. What a year. I also never knew how cheap the Cowboys were when it came to paying players. Love to hear the memories of those lucky enough to watch that season.

Take a fair amount of angst about salary and such with a grain of salt.
That is the way the whole NFL was back then. Also these guys are talking about something that happened more then 30 years ago= and what you remember NOW may not be how it happened back THEN.

They're all really good. Think I've seen over 20 episodes including our 5, and enjoyed each one.

Duane Thomas: once a prick, always a prick. They should have played "Still crazy after all these years" every time he spoke. I love how New England rescinded the trade 'cause he was such a jerk.

Watching that show with Bob Lilly commenting was really cool.
I especially liked the locker room scenes after they beat Miami and watching Lilly light up that cigar. If anyone deserved to win the Super Bowl it was Lilly. I like watching the players win it who went thru the tough years...reminded me a little of when Jeffcoat was able to win a Super Bowl.
Of course Lilly was a Hall of Famer but Jeffcoat was a very good player for a lot of years on a lot of lousy teams also.

Actually it was more like a couple of days. One should also remember that NE of that period was a disaster of a franchise. Lousy front office, coaching, etc.
Poor Garret really stepped in it- as he was traded to the Boys he started talking right away about the great O line. Then the trade was nullified and he had to go back and face the NE O line. For a RB that was not a good thing.

I remember when it was reported that in team meeting that Thomas would turn his chair around with his back to his teammates and coaches. Thomas really became a problem but thankfully we had Calvin Hill to turn to.

That D was very dominant. Despite the fact Dallas dominated Miami in that game I was so used to Dallas losing the "Big One" I never relaxed until the final moments of that game. I'm sure all Dallas fans at that time felt relief with that win. But I can only imagine what the players felt; esp like Lilly. You could still hear the emotion in his voice after all these years.
