I'm sure most of you guys are at work and cant, I called the office and told them I'd be working from home... I have a feeling I might be tomorrow too since I want to watch the CB's for sure.

It's good stuff, seeing the big men do agility drills is almost humorous. :)

Chris Long just did some traffic drills, looked pretty darn good.

I've caught a little here and there online at NFL.com here at work. Not been able to watch it extensively though.

Long looks fantastic. I didn't think he could be a 3-4 OLB before the Combine, but if he's drafted #1 overall by Miami, that's what he'd play and he'd be great at it.

Haha, they just had a combine "ad" where Jared Allen talked about how he went into the combine knowing he wasn't a weight room guy, so on the bench press he knew it was going to suck, only ended up putting the bar up 13 times. Says he thought he was gonna cry, and then he asked "Why couldn't I have done it 7 more times?" :laugh2:

Groves can haul

If you pick up Lindy's draft magazine, and turn to the report on Auburn DE Quentin Groves, you'll see this line -- NFL Comparison: DeMarcus Ware, Cowboys.

I think Groves'll take that one. Just like Ware was, Groves is a college end who'd slip to outside linebacker in a 3-4 perfectly. And he certainly didn't hurt himself a few minutes ago, when he moved the 250 pounds he carries 40 yards in 4.52 seconds.

Folks, when you consider the size these guys are, a defensive lineman posting a time like that is as impressive as Darren McFadden clocking a 4.27 yesterday. And even if the Cowboys have no need at OLB, and probably wouldn't consider Groves, it's certainly interesting look at guys like him and even Georgia DE/OLB Marcus Howard, who just blazed a 4.47 through the RCA Dome.

Derrick Harvey looks pretty good too and of course Gholston is a super freak, whoever gets him is getting one hell of a player.

I don't know that I'd be upset if we got another one (OLB) that is from one of these top guys. But you gotta get them on the field somehow.

Are there any other 3-4 DEs looking like viable first rounders?

I know we're all hankering for CB/WR/RB, but I think the DE spot opposite Canty is one of our weakest starting positions. I'd like to see us get a guy who can do what Spears was supposed to.

Derrick Harvey looked good in all the drills, including dropping back in coverage. He "intercepted" the pass after like a WR, arms extended.

They're talking about Ware now, and our taking him over Merriman, his conversion to OLB. They are admitted we made the right decision. D WARE for president!

I still think Rat is our starting DE next year. But that means we need a developmental NT, and I don't know that there are that many of those out there this year.

As far as Chris Long goes, would he be better at 34 OLB than Gholston? Hard to believe a college stack 34 end would be a good enough athlete at OLB to warrant the #1 pick overall.

Thought you meant conversion DE's to OLBs, I don't think you take a 3-4 DE in the 1st round ever unless he's absolutely dominant. I'd spend more resources on 3-4 OLB always.

Does anyone know what Red Bryant's official combine weight was? At I assume over 320 lbs, 5.03 is pretty impressive.

And if any of you guys can report it, I'd love to know how Curtis Lofton does. We probably don't need an ILB anymore, but I like him a lot.

Avril looks really good in linebacker drills. Perhaps a Purdue guy to replace our Purdue ILB.

Gholston looks good in the conversion drills too, this guy is making a darn good argument to go over Long.

Cliff Avril (Perdue) is another guy that looked good out there, especially with that 40 time.

You think he's got enough to play ILB?
