Yeah this is the only time I get into soccer. Better yet, I have two teams to root for (Japan and the US). To bad they both lost in a bad way.

Yeah I'm watching. I think the biggest reason Soccer won't make it in the U.S. is because there isn't much time for advertiser dollars. The game keeps going and only stops for halftime. Sometimes they stop for streakers.

this is not really true, over in mexico i watch some their soccer games and what they do is advertise while the game is going on, they half and half the screen or they will put an image on the field digitally so i looks like its on the field. i just really think it doesnt interest most people

This is the best part of the game, but also one that constantly makes ESPN crap themselves to try to find the best way to get their advertising money. I love it, if you dont want to watch commercials just walk away for 15 minutes at half time and come back. I am crushed that we (the USA) got slaughtered, those punks were a disgrace to the flag and were acting like they diddnt care. Either way, I have big plans to get really drunk and watch the game at a big soccer pub on Saturday afternoon. I also cant wait to watch Netherlands vs. Ivory Coast on Friday. Typically enough, I have seen all the games except for the Aussie game which could have been the best one of the opening rounds. Some fantastic goals being scored though.

Advertisements like that were done in America. But once people found out, they were totally against it. I remember it was done in the NBA. Americans are funny about their "purity of the game" beliefs. The Yankees were blasted by fans for having the Spiderman 2 logo on their bases. They don't mind TV commercials. But they don't want to see McDonald's 'M' on the pitcher's mound.

I felt that they were playing like they've never played together before. Instead of kicking to their man for the set-up, they were kicking it to the other team. And they have to protect their goalkeeper better.

I'm watching the world cup. We (Sweden) were humiliated in our opener against Trinidad & Tobago going scoreless (0-0) so tomorrow we have to win against Paraguay. I really don’t follow soccer beside the world cup and the european cup.

Was that really a humiliation? Or was it because of the 11 on 10? It's kind of confusing for me. The Croatians were way happy to lose to Brazil by 1. I don't get it.

I don't think T&T can win or even tie against England though. Was way surprised that they tied against Sweden.

how bout that game today between germany and poland. i couldn't believe germany hits the post twice, comes back down the field during stop time, and scores the only goal of the game which would prove to be the winner. sucks to be poland, who i'm sure thought they were gonna get out of that game with a tie.

Amazing finish. With the many chances Germany got at Poland's goal, plus having only 10 men, it was only a matter of time before Poland's luck ran out.

You wouldn't believe the headlines in the swedish newspapers the last couple of days though, everyone followes the wc in Sweden and people were quite upset.
