Anything Make You Optimistic for 2025?

I like some of the young players on our team, and I want to see if they improve.

But optimism as far as winning games? With our coach, QB, and defense, anything over .500 looks out of the question. We're basically in a "Campo years" holding pattern until Dak and Schotty leave, or at least until Dak stops taking up 18% of the cap in return for Cooper Rush level play.

2021-23 was our window to win, and really make noise in the NFC. 2024 was when that window closed.
Yeah, Jerry is about to publicly die on a hill with Dak Prescott and a puppet coach.

Fully deserves whats coming as it was his own creation.

Now this is not reputable enough to make a thread about, but both of these guys are highly regarded insiders for the Browns. Neither of them throw random stuff at the wall

On the one hand It’s so bizarre I can’t imagine it’s possible, but on the other both went back and confirmed with separate sources. Crazy times

The Browns being willing to commit to those two big QB contracts makes it so unlikely. Plus, the Jones boys having to eat the cap hit due to this only being year 1 of the Prescott extension also makes it highly unlikely.

But, if it happened, that would all but guarantee Shadeur Sanders being the Cowboys QB1 in the draft.

I might still draft Abdul Carter with the Browns pick and draft another QB later in the draft. Maybe, explore Aaron Rodgers as a FA signee.

Can't see this having any legs at all. But, fun pre-draft speculation.

go☆cowboys!

Jerry will turn 83. There’s that.

Other than that I look forward to seeing more of Overshown. That guy is a missle. Maybe a healthy Bland too. I like his game. Young OL?

I see so much negativity around here. Fans are discouraged, etcetera l, etcetera.

So here's my challenge. First, without mentioning anything about Jerry Jones, can you talk about anything you may be optimistic about? For me, I see an obvious rebuild taking place. Lots of new, younger faces coming. And then there's the draft position. It's not too bae at #12.

Overshown, even though he's injured, gives me a level of optimism because when I look at him on film, he looks like a man amongst boys even in the NFL. If he can stay healthy, I sense he may even be a super star level player. That batted pass for a TD was just unreal football focus. The possibility of seeing him with Parsons for the foreseeable future gives me optimism.

I'm also optimistic because we do so well with UDFAs, which gives us a slight edge there personnel wise.

The OL was developing last year and did surprisingly well.

I like that we brought back Dante Fowler. And added a player like Sanburn. I even like Jones as a depth player.

New coaches should be interesting to see as well.

What aspects of the 2025 Cowboys are you optimistic about?

Overshown is an all pro in the making. It would be a long shot he stays healthy, but I'll hope against hope.

The talent isn't nearly as bad as some folks believe imo. We didn't get blown out against GB because we lacked talent across the board. Its because we lacked talent in key positions and they exploited in, and it snowballed from there.

I dont hate the FAs we brought in. There's a lot of unrealized potential there. It could work out really well or be a dumpster fire. However, guys like Sanborn and Fowler should make a difference. It's not my favorite approach to FA, but it's better than a bunch of aging vets and non descript crap.

The coaching staff looks encouraging and we may actually focus on running the ball. I'm intrigued if nothing else. I didn't want Schottenheimer but he's done well on paper with his staff. His vision seems to be shaping up, and a strong draft will reenforce that.

Go get a stud rb, and a wr2, DT etc. and there will be some genuine excitement from me. I dont expect a lot anymore, but it would be nice to go into a season not expecting disaster, as I did last year.

Jane Slater says no..."absurd."

I promise. This one isn't happening...

Correct.

And then we started drafting Kelvin Joseph, Sam Williams, and Schooner.

I have no idea what happens. When we start getting close, Jerry goes full dummy and starts drafting obvious busts. He's done it before.

Best think Dak can do for Dallas is be on another team.
