Just looking for anything Cowboys related, I found a game that AOA played in Jacksonville.

AOA is #41

This was his 2nd week in Jacksonville. He played all but the 1st defensive snap due to an injury to the starter. He started the following 2 games.

It's weird that a guy that started 2 games the previous year and was under contract, got cut in May. He must have irritated the oaching staff by missing off-season workouts or something to that effect.

He looked AWFU!!!

He ended up playing 220 snaps.

PFF rated him at a +1.2 for the season.

Not bad.

Let's resign OAO. We have tried him at safety, punt returner, kick returner and wide out. Why not RB? Jerry, go and trade a first and two threes and get us a has been for crying out loud!!!

I cannot express how much I hate the owner, what a pant load. JG and RR, as well.

Based on that video? Not sure what you were watching.

He surprisingly looked stout in run support. There was nothing to judge him on in terms of pass defense, but he clearly flies to the ball.

I'm guessing the Cowboys are looking for some special teams support from him, unless they think he is still "raw" and can be developed (which apparently the Jags didn't believe)

Damn, I'm watching the Jax/Tenn game now and he looks solid.

Or he was simply bad.

Broaddus has a breakdown of AOA's two games, and the breakdown is not very complementary. There is no mystery as to why the Jaguars (the Jaguars!) released him.

Broaddus is an idiot.

Look at his write up:

His game started with a terrible play against the Titans when wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins went vertical from the slot and he took too flat of an angle to the ball, thus the pass was completed behind him for a big play.
The only pass that Hawkins caught with AOA in coverage had AOA tackling Hawkins for no gain. He almost had him for a loss. It was a great tackle by AOA. There literally was no catch by Hawkins on a vertical route from the slot in the game.

Later in the game, Owusu-Ansah got caught in a Cover Two situation where he needed to adjust off the right hash and make the play. Titans tight end, Jared Cook was lined up in the slot to his left. On the snap, Cook headed vertical, but again Owusu-Ansah took a poor angle to try to cut the route, only to arrive late. Matt Hasselbeck laid the ball up to Cook uncontested and he made his way into the end zone for the touchdown.
AOA didn't take a poor angle to cut the seam route. He had a receiver running free into his zone on the right side of the field, so he had to stay home to defend a pass to the point he didn't have a prayer at defending a streaking TE down the middle of the field. I wouldn't expect any free safety to make a play there.

Broaddus can't break down safety play to save his life. He thought Alan Ball was a good safety.

Owusu-Ansah lined up at free safety and showed some stiffness and hesitation in his play, which was a trait he displayed when he was a member of the Cowboys.
If that is what Broaddus thinks is stiffness, then he doesn't know what he's looking at. AOA looked very smooth.

It's funny, I'm trying to watch some myself and he looks much improved. What I find funny though is that if this guy was never in a Cowboys uniform prior to this instead of all the instant he sucks comments there would be many more complimentary posts I'm sure.

Thank You. I love someone who actually takes the time to look at things for themselves.

At this point, I almost hope Dallas drafts a stud S next year so we can move past all this stuff about Justin Beriault, I mean Pat Watknis, I mean AOA, I mean Barry Church, I mean Matt Johnson, I mean AOA, wait he's a WR now, being the stud safety of the future that's just a diamond in the rough. :banghead:

How do you know if Matt Johnson isn't going to be a stud safety?

Here's the game stats to back you up on the Hawkins pass.

2-4-JAC 33 (7:51) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 8-M.Hasselbeck pass short right to 87-L.Hawkins to JAC 33 for no gain (41-A.Owusu-Ansah; 30-D.Coleman).

His only other catch was in the third qtr for five yards

1-10-JAC 40 (7:47) (Shotgun) 8-M.Hasselbeck pass short right to 87-L.Hawkins to JAC 35 for 5 yards (30-D.Coleman).

Is it just me or does it seem that Broaddus is really sinking as regards doing his job?

Hard to judge in that video. Jacksonville looked to be running a cover 3 in a lot of the snaps, and playing coverage as a single deep safety in cover 3 is pretty hard to do.

I never had much of an opinion on this guy either way, but I have to admit he looked solid with the Jaguars. He should make the team as a backup. Honestly, it makes you wonder how this staff saw fit to cut him so early last year. He obviously has some ability.
