Game is not decided on a coin flip. Defenses in OT can play well enough to force a FG attempt, punt, stop opponent on 4th down, get a turnover.

I like this over the current rules. A team who scored first really has to weigh whether or not it’s worth it to go for 2. If they get it game over and if they don’t get it the game is likely over on the next possession. The other team needs to score a TD and extra point to win.

I still prefer giving both teams a chance to possess the ball. After that if the game is still tied I would go to sudden death.

There's little to no difference between this and what we have now. It's like playing an inning and a half instead of a half inning. Same problem. I think the 8 points on the first drive is a good proposal. Or they could just make it 8 points, period. If no one scores 8, then whoever has the lead.
