Fresh off a much needed victory against the 'hated' pft, Texans - Dallas stares into a week of much needed r&r. The 2010 Dallas Cowboys couldn't have picked a worst way to start their season, than losing two games against teams most had penciled in as Ws when the schedules came out April.

All offseason this team has been paraded around not as a football team, but as a product. Training camp turned into a marathon, playing an extra game, travelling to two different locations - two a day practices on the weekends to sell more merchandise. Very difficult to focus in an environment like that, especially for a team that is constantly hearing about playing a home Super Bowl game, almost as if its a forgone conclusion. After getting shocked at home to the Bears - rumors of coaching changes and drama within the organization circled and ESPN was already gassing up the Werder Express to camp outside Valley Ranch waiting for the implosion.

Instead, the 2010 Dallas Cowboys came out and beat a very solid and talented Texans team, on the road, and in a convincing fashion. The run game was established, the defense forced turnovers, a balanced offensive attack, and there was even a Roy Williams sighting. When their backs have been against the ropes, this team has come out swinging. Andre Johnson was held in check and you couldn't tell if Mario Williams dressed out for the game. Dez Bryant showed more flashes of brilliance and Tony Romo showed exactly what he can do when you give him a clean pocket. They played as a team last week, all three phases of the game were solid. Hopefully they can build off of that and match last weeks intensity. Because lord knows where we'd be if we were 0-3 right now. These Cowboys aren't out of the woods yet, but they aren't in critical condition anymore - thats for sure.

Texts From Last Sunday

'you still mad about bobby carpenter? sebastian janikowski says hello'-Josh (raider fan)

'jerry's so broke i heard dez' credit card got turned down'-Lui (Commanders fan)

'i'll give you matt moore for jon kitna straight up.'-Chase (panthers fan)

'i've been at the bar the whole time and didn't realize someone wrote dirty on the back of my Sanchez jersey.'-John (jets fan)

'quincy carter could quarterback this team.'-Dan (steelers fan)

Signs Of The Apocalypse
-Terrell Owens hasn't gone crazy.
-Undrafted players currently lead the league in receiving (Austin Collie) and rushing yards (Arian Foster). Romo is 4th in passing and Austin is 4th in receiving.
-Charlie Batch and Brandon Lloyd are still playing professional football, and well.
-The Jets brought the hammer down on Braylon Edwards for his 5:15 drunken joyride by making him sit out an entire quarter. A little too stiff if you ask me.
-The Chiefs and Bears are 3-0.
-Bob Sanders isn't hurt. Oh wait, nevermind.
-I saw a man get upset that his team (Bears) scored because he had Green Bay's defense in his fantasy league.
-Roy Williams not only had 117 yards but he scored twice and didn't drop a pass.
-Ray Lewis is still good, like at 35 he's Patrick Willis good - the kinda good you can only get from taking someone's life and taking their power Highlander style.
-Eli Manning thinks he's left handed.

Dumb Quote Of the Week
In regard to his 100 million dollar contract deep in the heart of tumultuous economic times - "My contract doesn't make me a slave to the Washington Commanders."-Albert Haynesworth

Bold Predictions (subject to backpeddling)
-The Chiefs and the Bears will not make the playoffs.
-Neither will the Jets.
-Brett Favre doesn't finish this season as the Vikings QB.
-The Giants will struggle to win 8 games this year.
-The Michael Vick hooplah will go away when he plays a team not named the Jaguars or Lions.
-The Saints will be the wildcard this year in the NFC.
-The Commanders will return to their mediocre ways and be a 6 win team.
-The Eagles will win in a dog fight next week against the Washington Commanders.
