The players and their agents should be blamed here. While it's an unwritten rule that the contracts are not as long as they say they are and the player and team is supposed to re-negotiate if the player starts to outplay their contract, it should be blatantly obvious what the Eagles are trying to do each time they give a new contract to a player early on in their career. They are basically trying to get the player on the cheap and have no intent of re-doing the contract. Yet, so many players on the Eagles roster went ahead and signed these new contracts and now they are stuck with a contract they don't like because they've outplayed them and the Eagles won't negotiate a new one with them.

Their agents should be looking out for their best interests knowing the Eagles will not re-do the deal. They should have escalators or incentives built into these deals to account for the scenario in which they outplay their contracts. Philly has the right not to re-do their deals - they don't care about their players at all. Everyone around the league knows this to be true.

Furthermore, Brown is angry with the way the Eagles have handled their offseason moves, starting with the signing of Samuel, according to a source.

The source also said Brown was angered over he and Sheppard being "lied to" by head coach Andy Reid over an issue he would not specify and that Brown believes most of the players are not happy with the message the Eagles sent last weekend by trading their first- round pick this year for an extra one in 2009.

Brown, like most of the other Eagles veterans, approached the building on Friday with a cell phone to his ear, thereby avoiding interview requests. Other veterans either snuck in through a side door or flat-out declined to speak.
