Prep team scores 72 points in first quarter
Associated Press, Updated 4 hours ago

SMITH CENTER, Kan. (AP) - Smith Center scored 72 points in the first quarter of a high school football game Tuesday night on the way to an 86-0 win over Plainville, according to a report in the Salina, Kan., Journal.

Smith Center forced six turnovers in the first quarter as it racked up what is believed to be a record for points in a quarter by a high school team, the paper reported. The previous record was 66 by Prescott, Ariz., in 1925.

The defending state champion has outscored its opponents 640-0 so far this season, including a 69-0 win over Plainville earlier this year.

There's not enough points scored in the 2nd half to be the Pats.

Oh the extent that junkie Bellichek goes to for wins...

Its sad really, get the man some help. He bets on his teams and always tries to beat the spread, he runs up the score on his opponents, and during halftime he plays bingo against Kraft....and if he loses Kraft gets slapped around...

Yeah, that not the Pats. No way they let up and only score 14 points in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters.

And the third or fourth ranked HS football team in Texas would crush them. Kansas? Give me a break!

Either this is the best high school football team in America or they have faced the most pathetic competition in the entire nation ...

I know in Missouri if you dropped down to 2A from 3A it was a big drop. Like Michigan dropping down to play Applachian state each week. OOps bad example>:laugh2:
Anyway coming off a State championship then dropping I can see how they are dominating. At 2A they are playing teams that are probably lucky to even have 11 players on the field.

I would suggest to teams around the league, if you don't want to get your butt kicked played better football and leave the crying to the day care kids.

That's wild. Louisiana has five classifications playing 11-man football. No way would they shutout, much less beat, some of the 2A teams here. Do they even play 11-man football at the 3A or 2A level in Kansas?

Yea, its like that here in Florida too. We have a little school in my town that produces big time players consistently (Everett FLorida, Moffit USF,Clinton Hart Chargers?), but in Missouri only a few teams (mostly St Louis/KC areas) in the state would send palyers to big time schools.
My home town team in Mo. was a great 5A team, but maybe once/twice in ten years a player would go to a Div 1 school.

My High school team would beat the bejusus out of the bad teams. When the second and third stringers went in it was more of same.

Coach called the plays and at some point you can't ask a kid to fall down or not try.

And this is the NFL....
