There seems to be a mental thing against sticking with the run. I realize there are lots of weapons but when running the ball seems to be working, they abandon it
And it’s not like they can’t see the stats with Elliot running for 100 yards how often they win.

Rush at 4-1 kept things together with lots of help with the defense . People need to look at backups around the NFL and realize this was as good as hoped for with a real possibility of being 6-2 at the break and getting a much needed week off .

Let’s face it the Lions & Bears neither of which is playoff country are teams at HOME you need to beat to have hopes of capturing the East with the Giants and Eagles having to come to the Art Gallery and not rest stops off the Jersey Turnpike .

Is that a Van Gogh Jean ? Next to the gift shop with # 11 Jerseys …..:starspin:

Rush was a practice squad QB so for him to be the QB of a team that won 5 of the 6 games he played, including against the Superbowl winners, runners up and a team that's 5-1, tells you the team is either very strong or he should be a starting QB in the league...I do not consider him to be a starting QB in the league.

Rush did his job. I believe he saved our season. He wasn't asked to win games for us, just don't lose them for us. He did that. The egirls exposed him for what he is, a backup, not a starting caliber NFL QB. Now we get Dak back and are still in the hunt. Thank you Cooper for doing the job that was expected of you.

My only thought is it may be better to "rest" Dak until after the bye. An injured thumb can be very painful and take a long time to return to 100%. And, yes, I'm no doctor, just a concerned fan
Yup. Rehab. Bringing him back too soon could be very bad, and could ruin our season.

Rush is not a starter in this league. He can start a game here and there and if you have a good defense and weapons around him (as we do/did) he can get you some wins and really that's all you can ask of your backup QB. I'll be happy to keep him here long term as a backup.

However, what we should take away from Rush starting and winning is that we don't need a superstar +$40m/year QB to win games. Build a great defense and rely on the run and you can win in this league. We just need someone with a little more to him than Rush to win. Hopefully Dak can prove he has that.

I'm very thankful we had Rush. He not only kept us afloat while Dak was down but did as well as you could possibly ask out of a backup. For his talent level he played amazing. He deserves a good chunk of change at the end of the year by someone.

It just amazes me that anyone thinks Rush is starting quality.
I think it's McCarthy that should get the credit. Just look in his career when his starter goes down.

Does anybody think Garrett wins 4 out of 5 with a backup?

People are still thinking it's Garrett so win a backup comes in and wins they think he is great

I could not be happier, who else in the league has a back up that has performed as well. We still have close to 3/4 of the season left . Next time we face that team. It will be in our house and we will prevail. They are not the best team in the division in my opinion. They just have the best record. All cowboy fans. And I mean all cowboy fans should be happy right now. Go cowboys
Sold backup.
Has had a nice career
Made good money
Set himself up for a good contract this off season.
Good for him and his family.

I get that concern
But he’s been throwing and it appears he is pretty much healed. Maybe not 100% but close and other than soreness there really is no risk of reinjury

Rush is a good backup for us because he knows the system and his limitations. In my view if, he started for another team he would fall flat on his face but he's 5-1 starting for the Cowboys which is fantastic so what's not to like...give him a little bump up in his contract to keep him happy and we are ready to roll.
