I disagree. I have closely related family members that I haven’t spoke to in 2-3 decades. There is no reason for me to waste my time with these people. I choose not to treat those people like family, so I don’t. I hope they enjoy it. I have.

When NFL players make it big they generally leave their hometowns.
Aqib has a terrible rep in Dallas after growing up in Hamilton Park.
He def should have stayed in/moved full time to Denver.
