This could be a fast and furious second round today with teams staring all day long at their draft boards. Trades could come quick as teams reassess where they are and what they need.

This will be rounds 2-3 tonight. The final four rounds come Saturday. The Cowboys have only one pick tonight - No. 59 overall - thanks to the trade up to get Dez Bryant but you never count out some sort of move to get more picks.

Owner and GM Jerry Jones said the two fourth rounders could be enough to move up 15 spots in the second round should they set their eyes on a particular player. It could also net them a third rounder if they want to move into that round. And I wonder if they would want to give up a pick next year to make a move, too.

Some names to keep an eye on: Safeties Nate Allen, Morgan Burnett and Taylor Mays, offensive lineman Rodger Saffold and Charles Brown. Maybe Vladimir Ducasse as well. Penn State linebacker Sean Lee could be an interesting get, too.

Didnt Jerry say one of the two fourth rounders would be enough to move up? Or am i mistaken?

yes, 1 4th i think

Mays is the only name that scares me. I have watched him play and frankly the combine numbers to me mean very little to me when comparing it to what the players actually do when the ball is snapped. The other names on the list I would be more than happy with

I hope somehow we make a deal to get another pick in the second. Possibly both fourths?

Im much more scared of Ducasse. Ducasse has much higher bust potential than Mays does. Like, a lot more.

Id rather wait to early in the 3rd and grab Donald Butler.

Allen/Butler << Make it happen Jerry. Then Jason Fox in the early 5th and we got 3 franchise players in this draft atleast.

I admit I have only seen limited action from Ducasse however I have seen Mays blow coverage by over running plays and blow tackles because he looks to be trying to make highlight reels with the big hit instead of making good tackle. I would rather stay with Ball at safety than to bring in Mays. Sorry just not impressed with this physical stats

The difference is, at best Ducasse will be a franchise LT, at best Mays will be a average safety. He cant cover period.

I'm not sure you know what a franchise player is.

If we could get two names (excluding Mays) off that list I would be very happy.

A fourth is generally about 1/2 the value of a 3rd in the same slot, so you could either use the 4ths to move into the middle 3rd round or use one or both to move up in the second.

Two?
I guess if we traded some players and/or picks from next year, we could maybe do that. We could not pull that off with just the picks that we have right now though.

Watch Jerry and Stephen perform their magic tonight.

If we get Mays then the great move to get Dez is all for naught.

Why would we get Mays? He sucks.

My bet is Saffold/Allen. I think getting a quality player on the OL should take precedent here though as much as I want a playmaking safety. Saffold can play guard or tackle, which would be great quality in the 2nd.

i think we can make a move to get another pick in the second and really come away with 3 signifigant contributors next season! I really like the Burnett kid at S and then find a way to get the best T available.
