Archer: Cowboys also had interest in Brissett and Drew Lock

Sure, but this guy will never see any meaningful action outside of an injury to Dak. Trey Lance redux is all this is, and if Dak goes down we are still cooked having failed to bring in an established backup QB. Maybe Andrew Dalton is still looking for a job?
I don't see your point. His immediate role is as backup, and the backup isn't supposed to see meaningful action outside injury to the starter. That's not unique to the Cowboys.

As with Lance, time will tell if he can develop into anything more, but it's not the same as Lance because the Cowboys will have spent a lot less to find out about Milton. And there is no Cooper Rush anymore, so barring some other move Milton appears to be the immediate backup, and not the 3rd teamer.

And Dak Prescott is getting older, and building quite a history of injury, so it make sense to have a young guy in the development stages

I don’t see why the Cowboys didn’t bring back Cooper Rush. Milton is a solid developmental quarterback but if Dak gets injured, I don’t know if I trust him to win games. The Ravens didn’t pay Rush a ton of money. The Cowboys should have matched the offer.

Maybe Rush thought he had a better chance or some other reason for deciding to leave. We bystanders never hear both complete sides of the story.

Milton is a specimen but his accuracy issue is a major problem. I think that is hard to correct.
I mostly agree. I think it really depends on the reason for his accuracy issues. There are so many things that can influence accuracy (feet, hips, shoulders, arm angles, etc.). And sound fundamentals are often lacking with strong armed and athletic QB’s who were able to get away with it at the lower levels. If the problem is between the ears, it likely is what it is. If it is due to mechanical flaws, I believe there is hope.

Better chance of playing in Baltimore with Lamar Jackson. To me it’s the Cowboys not wanting to pay the back up quarterback any money.

Maybe Rush was wanting greener pastures. Rush was what he was noodle arm win you a few games but scares no one

Milton has higher upside . He may not amount to much either but at least the book isn’t written yet

Besides now rush may get a SB he wasn’t going to sniff 1 with this owner

If you think the Cowboys are playoff contenders you want a backup that can win games.

Just like the starter qbs don’t win games teams do

I watched enough of Rush to know he wasn’t the reason the cowboys won games he started

He played well enough to keep the boys afloat

The legend of Rush continues to grow SMH

And we don’t know that Milton can’t

They got this one right IMO.........

Yeah, Milton is a good addition from a development perspective, but not to come in and win games like Rush did. I'd guess that JJ/Stephen are going to go this affordable route and if Dak gets injured, they'll just sign someone in FA to come in.

Yeah I’m pretty impressed with Jerry on this one. I feel as much as I throw hate at him I got to throw him some love on this. It’s only fair to call out Jerry for screwing up and to call him out for getting it right. Good job Jerry

That’s why I’m happy with this move because I honestly don’t think we’re playoff contenders and any development at any position will make this a successful season. When playoffs are unlikely, player/position development is key IMHO.
