Archer on cap space

I don't know why anyone even worries about the Cowboys cap space anyway.

That's a worry for teams that care about winning.
Some seem to take it personally like it is their cap space. They actually crow about Dallas not signing this player or that player because of how much the player costs.

Some fans tend to believe there’s a magic money fountain and that the team can *surely* find another $10m for the player that became their pet cat on Monday.

Comparing the Cowboys to a team like the Raiders and wondering why we aren’t “more attractive” than the raiders is a good example

The Raiders have no QB and just traded their highest paid player and they came into the off season at the top of the cap space list.

They had like$110m without any restructuring

We were $36m negative

The Raiders don't overpay every player they draft.

That helps.

What is annoying is that they sign these little depth pieces when they could be using this money for the first year cap hit of a guy like Hendrickson. Osa's first year hit on the 4 year $80m contract was 6.250m....so they could easily fit a first year hit of around $10m into a deal that is 4-5 years on paper but in reality is a 2-3 year deal with an out clause.

The one year cap hit for Williams, Locke and the DT are $11m. Actually about $8m net because each one is knocking off a $1m contract from the bottom.

And if they did someone would complain about them overpaying or not getting a good enough player or whatever.

I mean, they gave up a 2027 fourth-rounder for Rashan Gary and some are complaining about that. My only complaint concerning that move is they haven't done enough with that one move to fix our pass rush.

Well they're complaining about that because he didn't sniff the QB for 11 straight games to end the season and was so bad that GB was going to cut him.

I personally don't care about a raggety 4th round pick, but I can see why others would complain about the player.

Like all the ones that complain about our 60 million dollar QB?……

But they can do whatever they want…..isn’t that the consensus around here?

So why aren’t they?

Why are they letting all of the LBs sign elsewhere when it was our worst position group and signing backup safeties and DTs?

Do they understand what 3-4 means?

Right now they have 4 LBs

They have 4 bodies they can put out there.

Calling them LB's is a reach.

I don't think we've done as much as we need to, but whether it's paying a fourth for Gary or paying two firsts for Crosby or paying $30 million per year for Hendrickson, some are going to complain about it.

I don't care what they pay. I just want the team to improve. Some just get caught up in cap or draft picks, like we expect them to use either of those well if they save them instead of using them on vets.
