Archer: Prescott contract restructure coming

What exactly appears to be trending upward?
I guess, by comparing it to last year's standards.
Signing their own.

Perpetuating the same mediocrity but last year's standard didn't even uphold their long held we like our guys philosophy cuz they let everybody walk.

So yeah, it's the same mediocre bar being pimped but last year they didn't even do that much.

I know.
"Some improvement."

If we do Dak's deal, they better be going all in...the window is very small if they legitimately want to make a run...maybe two years. If they do his deal, and Parsons, they will actually have added about 70m in cap space with three moves. So the we have no space group will have to tuck tail and slink away.

Creating a lot of cap space.

-6.25 mil for Osa, ~1mil for Thomas
But restructuring of Lamb and Prescott makes a lot of cap space.
If they can sign Parsons to an extension, it'll knock down his cap hit a lot too.
THey will make 70m in cap space between Lamb, Parsons and Dak according to OverTheCap.

So what’s going to happen here?

They finally wake up to free agency in a year where there aren’t many good ones?

It’s fine to use to keep you out of the cellar but no good when it could put you over the top to contend for a deep playoff run?
I don't think they are going to restructure his contract. What do they need the money for? Do they all of a sudden want to sign some big name players not already on the Cowboys?

Here's something else to think about. If they needed more money, when they wrote Dak's contract, they could have just swapped out this year for year 2, instant 22M in cap space. No restructure needed.

Trent Dilfer has a superbowl ring. Eli Manning as well.

So anything is possible.
Dilfer had a generational defense. The 2000 Ravens defense was one of the best to ever take a football field. The Cowboys haven’t had a defense remotely close to a great defense since 1992/3.

Manning was the #1 overall draft pick. He was a very good quarterback who was tough as they come and smart.

Dak isn’t winning anything big.

Theres more than enough evidence.

The only reason to do Dak's contract is to make a big run at it....otherwise it makes no sense. This sounds like what we thought would happen last year.

As predicted; with the dead cap this causes, he’s guaranteed to be the the starting QB this year and next. One more restructure and it’ll be extraordinarily difficult to release him before the end of his contract in 2029

The balloon payment nuke at the end of this contract is going to be hilarious.
With the cap going up an average of 10-20 million per year the dead money at the end of Dak's deal is going to be negligible. This is not pro-Dak or anti-Dak, it is merely a fact that escapes too many fans that only think inside a bubble.

I was told there would be no math, but to just guess I'd say another 18-20.
Like the still ongoing Bobby Bonilla annual million dollar NY Mets contract.

Til 2035 I think.
Sure hope Dak does not cripple the team to that extreme.
LOL

Cowboys!
