A second franchise tag would cost upwards of $20 million and likely lead to Irving being out of their financial reach.

The Cowboys have a need for a nose tackle. It’s not Collins’ best position. Price is coming back from a knee injury. But the Cowboys do not place early-round importance on the spot. Vita Vea might be a nose tackle to some but the Cowboys see him as an under-tackle with his athleticism. If they take a nose tackle, it will be in the middle rounds.

I'd certainly love Vea and then another 1 Tech later.

They may think Vea is a 3 Tech but he can likely also hold up at the 1 Tech whereas guys like Bryan and Hurst, probably could not.

Mark it now, Vea will go to a team who has a defensive coach who knows what he is doing and will play Vea as a 1 tech and he will be a dominate player in 2 years. Meanwhile we are stuck with Rod the moron as our defensive coach.

Personally, i can't wait till Rod is gone.

I'm actually hoping Rod leaves at the end of this season and Kris Richard becomes DC. I really like Richard
a lot and can see him and Will McClay becoming a hot tandem together. In all honesty I was hoping and a little
praying that our Defense excels and when Garrett leaves than the up and coming Richard can become HC.

I believe there is a chance primarily because other teams may see him only as a 2 down run stuffer, unlike Marinelli apparently. Dane Brugler by the way does not agree with Marinelli's assessment of Vea.

I like to read these insider tips on draft week but I don't really believe any of them. Almost always when I go back and look at Jerry's comments on draft they pretty did what he said in some way or another. This year his comment that stood out to me was a good defensive player will probably fall to us. We'll have to see what happens. If Edmunds or Smith or James or Vea or Fitzpatrick fall to us I bet they jump on it. People are already predicting a run on QBs and offensive lineman.
