Are Cowboys are the best team in the NFC East right now?

I watched two Eagles preseason games. If Hurts goes down, they are cooked. Dalton and McKee looked mediocre at best. I don't know what happened to McKee, he showed promise. Dalton has hit the wall. They have nice depth on both lines and LB, and it might not matter.

I have New York and Philadelphia competing for second place near a .500 record with Washington firing Dan Quinn this year after another disappointing season.
 
As an Iggles' fan, I think the Cowboys are better right now.

However, the Birds are deeper in key positions, especially OL and LB. I disagree with someone who wrote that Jurgens looks cooked. It's Dickerson who looks like he won't make it back to his previous form. But they've got real good OL depth.

The pre-season passing offense looks like crap. Lotsa rollouts and short passes. Yes, they're keeping stuff under wraps, but still. I think the ground game will be much better than last year and Barkley is likely to be the beneficiary. Their top two picks have, to put it charitably, a long way to go. Third-round pick Markel Bell looks like an absolute steal, though, and is likely Lane Johnson's successor.

I read a lot of negative comments about the Cowboys' game last night. Keep in mind, though, that a lot of coaches want to give players about to be cut a chance to have some film out there. With expanded practice squads, there are a lot of spots for the taking. Plus, no matter how bad Dallas was last night, the Eagles were worse. Nobody should have to pay for that crap.

For the first time in years, I can honestly say….I’m not so sure.

I actually friggin love what my boys have done this off-season, and as I’m sure you all know, we finally hired a proven HC and not one of these good coordinators who fail at leading a full team. I think we had 4 in a row of those guys- McAdoo, Shurmur, Judge, Daboll- might be one more, but I’m trying to forget.

Anyhow, I can’t speak for the Eagles but I’m pretty sure they are very good too….but even still, I really have a good feeling about this year. Harbaugh has only had one losing year in his 18 years of coaching so I’m not expecting that.

Can we win the East? I think we can….but as we all know, injuries also determine these answers as well, and I usually don’t like making predictions before the season starts. Ask me after we have played 3-4 games.

Last year we didn’t have Nabers and Skatt for most of the year, Dexter Lawrence didn’t care, and Dart was learning how to not get killed….as a result, we only won 4. But don’t forget, we had crappy coaches and coordinators and we blew 5 games with double digit leads going into the 4th quarter, not to mention one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. I’m sure you fellows know about one of those games we lost at the end to your boys. That loss hurt me so deeply too. I went from total joy (Nabers TD) to total sadness (Aubrey FG1, FG2).

Bottom line- opening game will tell me a lot, but I predict we will not lose 40 something to 0 this time. I will return here to discuss that game with you, win or lose, when the dust clears.

Wishing both teams a HEALTHY season, and we both can agree with this- I hate the Eagles much much more.

Yes, I think last night the teams don't really make a game plan. They just want to see guys make plays on their own....not be schemed into a play. That is why it was good to see Howell come in an be productive. It was nice seeing a couple of the receivers make some plays on their own.

I am not going to count the Eagles out. They still have a lot of talent...they should be the biggest competitor for Dallas in the division. I think Washington is gonna crash and burn again. Giants are a year away.

Lol the Cowboy were 4 games worse than the Eagles. Even if the Cowboys beat the Eagles twice. They would have been 3 games worse. This is like talking about how Dak owns the NFC East when he can't make a NFC championship game. And a key indicator of why "stats" are for losers.

You don't know what you're talking about and clearly don't watch the Eagles. AJ Brown was not the engine of the offense. The Eagles offense was predicated on the run game. Not the pass game.

You are correct that what you wrote is not "hopium".

Nobody is obsessed with the Cowboys. Thats just something you're telling yourself to boost your self esteem or talk slick. I'm here bc i like interacting with other fans. And seeing outsode perspectives. Some people like safe spaces and echo chambers such as yourself. So i understand why that seems alien to you.

I couldn't even name an Eagles board. It's a sickness and it's known by all NFL fans not just Cowboys and Eagles fans. We are your world and to us you are just one of the 3 teams in our division. if the Giants get better they'll be the one we think about, but you will be here even if we win one game.

Yes...but that's pretty much true of every team if their starting QB goes down.

I think if the Cowboys can even field a defense that ranks anywhere from 16th to 23rd they can be the best team in the division. This roster just looks so much better than last year's. I admit I was talking myself into the same thing a year ago. Right now I truly believe it.

Nope. WRs forced teams into 2-high and opened the run game. Same as Dallas last year.
 
This is what I love about preseason when teams are evaluating their non starting players to make their roster. We can get to the point where we can discuss who is going to dominate when a "real" season game hasn't been played yet :lmao:

Where does one find the stats on preseason games over the last 20 years?
