Look at the recent history

2008- Carolina, Tennessee lose
2007-Dallas and Indy lose
2006-Chargers and Ravens lose
2005- Bears and Indy lose
2003-Rams and Chiefs lose

5 of the past 6 years at least half of the teams with byes have lost

From 1990-2002 out of 52 divisional playoff games teams with a bye lost 9 times.

It looks like the regular season in the NFL is becoming less relevant year by year. This is not a good thing imo.

they're not overrated if your team is banged up, but in this day and age of the NFL, it is, there just aren't as many professionals like there used to be

Overated teams maybe?

Great question.

I'm anxious to see how the G-men play tomorrow. They are almost limping into a game against a pretty hot team.

If you look at how teams play after a bye in the regular season the odds they win increase dramatically. I wonder why that doesn't translate into postseason... momentum?

I want Pittsburgh and the Giants to win tomorrow.

A 9-6-1 team vs a 9-7 team for NFC Championship is just sad.

An 8-8 team playing in the AFC Championship would be ludicrous.

Unless of course, it's your team.

In addition, the last three Super Bowl champions played on Wild card weekend.

The NFL is a joke nowadays. Even with all this suckage the Cowboys can't manage to win a meaningful game. LMAO!

I'm still shocked the Rams and Chiefs were good enough to have byes only 5 years ago.

And I'm shocked the Cowboys were good enough to have a bye only last year!

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Giants lose tomorrow, not really if the Steelers lose either

1 of them probably will

First round byes obviously are overrated b/c Dallas has no clue what it means, i.e. 2008.

It's been proven, a few years in a row now, that it's not about locking up homefield and a first round bye necassarily. Those are very nice things to have and they should be strived for but it's all about whose playing hot when the playoffs get started.

It's pretty rare that a team can play like crap and then suddenly turn it on in the playoffs and one of those rare exceptions is this years Cards team.

But the Giants, just like us last year, backed into the playoffs playing really poorly down the stretch and it showed today while they were getting beaten by the Eagles.

This pretty much makes me say screw resting players down the stretch. Ain't worth it in this era of parity.
