Of course Zeke deserves some criticism but there haven't exactly been a load of running lanes against any relatively good teams over the past 6-7 games. Last week I watched the Colts play the Cardinals with their back up offensive line. They were only able to run for around 3 yards a carry apart from JT running for around 48 yards very early on. If the line is unable to block for the runners then even JT gets bottled up.
Any back will get bottled up without good blocking. Philbin the line coach doesn't impress me much. These boys being number 7 at run blocking doesn't seem right somehow.

So you think Steel is better than Smith? Oh boy..............

I guess you missed the game where Steel played in place of Smith? They werent pretty.
What in the hell are you talking about? How did you get the idea that I thought Steel was better than Smith? You might want to reread my post again

My bad................you want to replace Collins. Yah, the line was better without Collins and with Steel in there.

I think most think that Collins, Martin and Smith are studs in both run and pass blocking, but are they? Have all three underperformed this year in all areas? I expect those 3 to blow people off the ball in the run game and to pass protect as well as any in the league and the reality is they haven't been consistent and it has hurt the team without a doubt. Is it injuries or getting up there in age or a combination of both. I know we blame Zeke for the running game woes for the most part, but it seems like both he and Pollard are getting hammered before they really get going.

FWIW, I think we have horrible blocking TE's and that sure doesn't help when you need to hold the edge. Schultz is a fine pass catching TE, but he for sure can't hold the edge and goodness forbid if you want him to blow someone (anyone) off the ball he's not up to the task.

Curious if other are seeing the same thing or are these old eyes seeing a shell of what these 3 used to be this season.
Arizona dline punked our oline full stop

I think Collins would be better than McGovern and Williams at LG.

I would like to see McGovern back at fullback to help with the run game.

We might see Collins back at guard next year. With Williams gone.

Also, Pollard needs more snaps:

That's some beautiful data analysis.
Precisely relevant, showing league context.

They seem to be blocking really well for Pollard, but not so well for Zeke.

How odd.

I don’t think they’ve been performing all season. But in spite of them we’ve been winning

The other 1/2 of the run blocking, Baidasz, Williams, and Schultz are not world beaters and some of the blocking assignments are mind-blowing.

Yea, but I never expected them to be world beaters, just average. I expected a helluva lot more from the big 3.

Did you come up with that based on his 6 carries?
I assure you that I have zero agenda here. I want Pollard to get the most carries of the two backs. Kids is a home run hitter. I think this line is not fundamentally sound for any of the three of our backs. Been for more than 6 carries.

.
Those three have actually appeared very good according to PFF and all 22

The problem is it doesn't matter if those three play great if the other two lineman play below average, the tightends are terrible at blocking, Zeke is slow and predictable, and Dak not only refuses to run but sometimes keeps the ball too long

Having two or three high level linemen helps and can put you over the hump but if everybody else is slipping then there's only so much that can be done (Martin can send his guy 10 yards downfield but if Williams get a hold or Biadasz gets sent 3 yards into the backfield then at the end of the day the end result isn't good)

Martin is, the others not so much.
