They have now defeated the two preseason favorites to go to the Superbowl in the NFC. Are they legit or did they just catch these teams at the right time?

As long as Cutler is the QB, they're the Broncos. When Cutler, at the time, had to win it himself, he threw THREE INTs on the drive. There is a reason why he's never had more than 9 wins.

I think they're more-or-less for real. Julius Peppers is a man. And Mike Martz offenses are no joke.

But they've got an awful OL, and a scheme that gets the QB beat up badly. I'm not sure it's a recipe for winning in Dec and January. But for now, at least, it's hard to argue against their early success.

They're not the '09 Broncos. The '09 Broncos were actually beating people instead of being handed three games in a row.

Bears are not legit IMO. They do some good things defensively but the Bears are a team that we really should have beaten the life out of.

The better question, IMO is, are we legit?

The Bears are taught to punch the ball out. They make a living off of opportune turnovers. They're tough to run against, and they take advantage of their opportunities. They've got good special teams.

They made it to the Superbowl doing these things not too long ago. That's a lot of games to be handed in a row.

I did not see the Bears 1st game against Detroit but I saw the TD catch that wasn't a ruled a TD catch that gave them the game.

I saw the game against us and there is no way they should have even been in that game. We did hand them that game IMO. I saw last nights game and I thought the Packers killed themselves with penalties and turnovers. I actually thought the Pack did give the Bears that game.

I have seen nothing all that impressive about the Bears. I think Cutler has been doing a nice job for them but overall, I don't see them as serious challengers for the NFC Championship, at this point.

Dallas handed the Broncos a win last year. Dallas was whooping them on both sides of the ball, but made big mistakes that cost them that game.

Also, Denver benefited from an extremely lucky play to beat the Bengals in the 2009 opener.

The Detroit game was a gimme.
But the Bears put the Cowboys and Packers in positions to make those mistakes. And they shut down both of our running games. They should get credit for that.

Mike Martz has a history of fielding impressive offenses, too. I don't think that's going to be different with Cutler throwing it.

The question is whether or not they'll be able to sustain the kinds of games they're playing. That all depends on whether or not their defense can continue forcing the weird turnovers at exactly the right time. Ordinarily, I'd say they can't. But then they did just that in 2007 and made it all the way to the show.

I think I would say the Bears are a bit more legit than the Broncos because their their defense. Having Peppers, Urlacher and Briggs is a pretty good trio on their defense.

Well the Broncos had a pretty good defense at the beginning of the season last year as well. That's the reason they had that start because their offense was not that great. Nevertheless, I hope the Bears beat the Giants next week.

They had Dumervil not much else along their front 7

I hope the Bears beat the Giants too.

I agree that the bears have been pretty lucky, similar to the KC Chiefs.

They could be 0-3 if Detrioit got that TD, and dallas and GB didn't beat themselves up. I think both Dallas and GB will be contenders. The Bears might be a wildcard, but not a division winner.

I think both the Steelers and Bears (both 3-0) will make it, but will not bank on it. Their defenses have been playing lights out, and wreaking havoc, but their offenses are average to below average at best. They'll need their defense all season long. For the Steelers, next week against the Ravens will be their first real test. I don't know about you guys, but TB was a pretender at 2-0, and TN, similar to GB and Dallas, screwed themselves over more than anything. Of course, not to take away from the Steeler's or Bear's D, but there were so many freak plays and lucky breaks for those two teams.

The Chiefs are the 09 Broncos. The Bears, although not perfect, actually have coaches that have been there before.

The Chiefs coaches have been there before. Haley was the OC for the Cardinals when they made it to the SB. Crennel and Weiss were both with the Patriots during their SB years.

But they haven't been there TOGETHER, as a team. At least Lovie has been there as HC of the Bears before and he has players like Briggs and Urlacher who have been there with him too.

Also true.

At least the Broncos were playing over their heads last year and came back down to earth. The bears have caught some incredibly lucky breaks.

I'm guessing, 9-7 tops. IMO, they have been gifted 3 wins. I think they can probably win 6 more, and the way it's looking that may get them in the playoffs.

But this 3-0 start could turn out to be a bad thing for Lovie Smith.

Lets say they are sitting at 5-3 or 6-2 at the midway point and collapse like I think they will and finish with 7-9 or 8-8 record like I would have predicted for them going into the season.

Lovie is already on thin ice and that type of collapse will likely send him right through.

Well, if they are catching lucky breaks, I hope they can continue that through this weekend at least.
