Are the Colts America's team?

I thought the Texans are America's Team? No?

I have a funny feeling the Texans will:

a) Remain in mediocracy for years go tome
b) Will eventually change city or even game

Right! Until Peyton and the Colts do their usual "El Foldo" in the playoffs again this January 2007:lmao: !

Their is no question that the Cowboys are America's Team. The real question is why? I'll give you my view on that. A 37 year old, 29 year fan who grew up a mile from Veterans stadium.

The Cowboys started and maintained a very successful run at just the right time. 1965-1983. Most people agree that is was during this time that football experienced it's largest popularity growth and surpassed baseball as the national passtime. Cowboys made the playoffs all but one of those 19 years. I think 10-12 NFC Championship Games, 5 Superbowl appearances.

I've heard many people tell me that they or their father became a fan because of Staubach being a Navy Grad and Officer.

I have a theory that the reason I became a fan is probably the most common and least admitted to. For me it was the uniform. First game I saw was the 77 Superbowl. I was mesmerized. Could take my eyes off those shinny blue and silver uniforms. Of course I was going to root for the good guys with the star on their helmets. Couldn't name one player when that game started, probably a dozen by games end. I was hooked for life.

I agree. The uniform and everything else... it all just seems to fit right.

Take for instance the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I think that their unifor today is good, but do you guys remember that orange one? It was very, lets say, less than nice! They had to totally revamp their image, and concept. That, well, gave them a shrper look and well here we are today.

The Falcons now for example, black to red, to back, now to red again? Will they settle?

The Seahawks, Silver and blue and green (cowboyish)? Now to turquoise and green? Looks better and more unique.

49ers, if you noitce, they have gradually been modifying their look, From the lines in their helmets to their pads and jerseys.

Ravens, Their head logo has been changed twice.

Vikings they have made some mods to their uniforms

The eagles... changes their colors a bit, their wings etc.

These teams have had the NEED to evolve given todays marketing demands, fashins etc.

once again.. a star is always a star. I am no prophet and I cant, by any means, THAT that cowboys will never change image, but I dont think there is the need or a reason too. There are things that never go out of style.

Just like the American blue blazer with golden buttons... a ture AMERICAN classic, just like the Beloved star and the traditional uniform of AMERICAS TEAM.... the DALLAS COWOBOYS

That was my first game as well! I loved the uniforms, but I had already taken sides in the game because of an argument on the school bus between a Dallas fan and a Denver fan.

it doesnt matter who wins on Sunday, until the Colts accomplish everything the Cowboys did and gather the amount of hate and love the Cowboys got n still get then maybe they have a chance to be but even then i think we will forever be America's team

I live about 2 hours from Indy and I probably know 3 (real) Colts fans and 100 Cowboys fans.
Heck, I'm not even the only Doomsday in my local area Fantasy league!

Growing up in eastern NC, there were lots of Commander fans, lots of Cowboy fans, and a good group of Steeler fans.

After that, there were one or two of the following in my school:
Vikings
Bengals (pre-1981 if you can believe it)
Colts
Rams
Dolphins
Broncos
Raiders
And those are all I can think of right now.

Fans of other teams having being trying to label themselves america's team or take the label away from us for a long time.

Truth is, there will always only be one "Amerca's Team".

We all know who that team is.

Even the most hated rivals know the Cowboys are considered America's Team, they produce the most revenue and create the most national buzz when it comes to TV ratings especially when they are winning!

:star:
