Sometimes players that are always at Valley Ranch working out and watching film are described as "gym rats" or other terms. Players like Sean Lee.

It appears that the Cowboys newer coaches are more of the "gym rat" type than some of their previous coaches.

Kiffin and Marinelli vs Rob Ryan

Callahan vs Houck

Rob Ryan didn't seem like a guy that would know all of the intricate details of all the draft picks like Kiffin appears to know.

Houck always seemed like a guy that would have retired long ago if not for the fact that Jerry was paying him 1 million a year as an OL coach. Callahan has been described by former players and previous boss Jon Gurden as a guy that outworks everybody.

Sounds like speculation. I'm sure Rob Ryan and Hudson Houck were very hard working.

For some reason, whenever a new player or coach comes along, threads like this pop up with some vague positive assertion about them and vague negative assertion about the recently dismissed players/coaches. This helps make everyone feel better about the decision and the current personnel, but there's no reason to disrespect the prior personnel.

I really like Kiffin and Marinelli. But I also liked Rob Ryan. I also liked Mike Jenkins, etc etc.

I also wonder how much Rob Ryan's weight and hair have to do with this perception, but there's another issue.

I also like Tony Romo but I don't get the feeling that he is the same type of "Gym Rat" as Sean Lee.

Not as much as Lee, no. Lee is another level.
But you hear Romo referred to as Gym Rat very often actually.

Sounds like he needs to go to the next level like Lee, according to Jerry. :D
