Are the Cowboys soft?

Not physically soft, but we were immature last season. Hopefully the experience of last season will mature this team and get us over the hump.

How were we immature last year? Because we lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions? Because one player dropped one pass that might have allowed us to beat the Super Bowl champion?

All I am asking here is for some perspective. Yes, last year was a disappointment. We were at top 3 team that ran into a juggernaut (Giants) and, like everyone else who played them the final 5 games of their season, we struggled against them. We weren't "immature"--although honestly I do no have a clue what maturity means in this context. We weren't soft. We just got beat. It happens. There wasn't a choke. We didn't get whipped. We lost a close game against a team that was making a lot of teams struggle including the 18-0 Patriots.

Do the Patriots look soft and immature because they lost to the Giants too?

How about a little perspective?

judging by the last couple of Decembers and the Giants game, the team is MENTALLY soft.

- dropped passes
- DUMB penalties

They gotta stop washing the unis with this stuff.

Everyone has an opinion, and to me, this team seems a little unfocused or something. When it comes to perspective, all we can compare is what we have, and so far that's one preseason game and practices against Denver. At this time last year we had manhandled Indy in the first preseason game and were consistently thrashing Denver in practice.

So, I guess I should restate my belief: To me, Dallas looks less ready to play than they did last year at this point.

Doesn't mean I think we're circling the drain or anything like that. Far from. I think the Cowboys have the pieces in place to be playing in February. They just seem a little lackadaisical so far.

To be serious.

I don't know if they are soft. I don't know if they need to change up the conditioning program. I don't need if they need a different mental philosophy. Or if it is just bad luck.

What ever the reason it is hard for anyone to argue they have not finished strong the last few years.

We have seen it with different players on the team, different coaches on the team and different styles of offense and defense on the team.

I think the only real constant we have seen is the Front office and the strength and conditioning coach.

Not saying they have anything to do with it as I don't really know. Just saying they are the only constants we have had since the time campo was the HC and now that wade is the HC. Since then we have had different coaches, a good deal of different players, different styles of offense and defense.

Who knows what it is...but there is something there.

Good post.
But I dont think thats it.

I think there is a sense of entitlement for some of these players and some players from years past. I think that has been the case for some time now.

We are the Dallas Cowboys and we can just show up. Never REALLY "hungry".

I know people like to throw around the phrase "worst thread ever" but if you said it about this thread it might actually hold some weight.

Didnt this same thing happen last year during the Broncos Visit to VR? were they not peaved after the preseason game when the Boys put it on them, you think The Broncos forgot about that? I dont see a soft team here. I think the 1st stringers are far from soft and the seconds and thirds are just disorganized a bit and a lot of those guys are destined for the Practice Squad or Home Depot LOL What I saw last week was a 1st string team that is going to be extremly competative and do some damage in the NFC will see what goes from there anything is possible in the "tournament" just ask the NYFG

By my recollection, the Cowboys hadn't manhandled anyone last year at this time. Their special teams play was far better against Indy than SD; however, the Cowboys starters only managed a draw against the Colts starters while completely dominating the Chargers' starters.

According to an article from yesterday, the Broncos out-executed the Cowboys in practice last season.

In fact, I can only recall one instance during recent history in which Dallas was manhandled in the preseason: last year against the Texans.

Physically soft? No. But an amiable doofus of a coach combined with an enabling owner spells trouble.

No, I think it is a sense of entitlement on the fan's part. They demand perfection. Every player acquired has to be a pro bowler. They demand that we need pro bowl depth at every position. Every player has to look like they are some MEANINGLESS adjective like "hungry" or "poised" or "a beast".

We have a very talented team that played well last year but needs to improve. The talent level improved, and now we just need to give them the opportunity to show it. And each year this team has gotten better over the last few. We have a stud young QB who looks like he is hitting his prime as a dominant QB. We have more pro bowlers returning then anyone.

But our fans are *****ING because the team hasn't already done everything our fans want out of this season by the 2nd preseason game. Our fans want every player to be perfect. Our fans want every practice perfect. Our fans want a guaranteed pass to the Super Bowl. And they want it done already despite the fact the season hasn't started.

Are there things to be concerned about? Sure! But there are far, far more things to be excited about.

How soon we forget the 5-11 seasons and heading into the season wondering who is going to be our starting QB! Some of you sound as down on this team as those teams!

We should as optimistic as ANY team out there. If you can't be excited about this team, what will it take???

Clearly.... the HUNGRIER (less talented team) beat the MORE talented teams this last playoff season.

Giants were only better than the Bucs.

Could be -- I am admittedly not a huge fan of Camp Cupcake. On the other hand, these are the same guys that dominated the NFC last year. If they are a bit soft, it's not going to take long at all for them to get up to game speed.

It would be one thing if this were a team comprised of "name" free agents like the Commanders were a few years back, when Danny Boy brought guys like Bruce Smith and Deion Sanders aboard. They had a lot of names, but never gelled as a team, and they suffered because of it.

Our guys have played together, this is the same exact team that went 13-3 last year. Winning 13 games in the NFL is not a fluke, our team is not going to suddenly forget how to play football. All of this will become abundantly clear when we smash the Browns on opening day.

I see some simularities between the Mavericks and Cowboys, they both are soft! I have not seen a mean streak attitude on the Cowboys for awhile and this really bothers me. Just sayin...........

Only rowdy is soft. I don't think this team is

This is the biggest flaw of them all. The Giants are extremely talented, make no mistake about it. It wasn't hunger that got them through, it was an abundance of talent.

You should feel good about that, we beat them 2 out of 3 times and were just a few plays away from beating them again.
