Are the Dallas Cowboys 2 drafted players away from a Super Bowl run?

Let's say Dallas hits on a WR and RB on Rounds 1 and 2 in this draft. They are immediate difference makers for the offense.

Let's also say Diggs and Bland have overall healthy seasons'.

Is this team getting to the Super Bowl?
Not close. We need DTs much worse than either of those positions. Until we fix the DT position, we will not be close to a super bowl.

I think we're close.

If we could just get that impact WR and RB, and just a COUPLE other more key pieces (2 or 3 good defensive Linemen, 3 or 4 really good oLinemen, a good tight end, 2 good linebackers, and 2 or 3 good defensive backs, plus have the owner die (of natural causes) and then his son die (of natural causes), and then get a really good owner who hires a really good GM).... then we're back baby!!!!
Actually, we've already tried that route and failed. We need DL, period.

So you are saying a miracle needs to happen. It will not. But then again if the Joneses would sell the team, that would be a true miracle.

My easy answer is no. But it comes with a caveat. Are we drafting a generational player like Jeanty and another dude to add at dline?
Look those words shouldn't be thrown around because they're technically putting too much pressure on these players we don't know if these players are generational there's no guarantee anybody, you're picking how's Kyle Pitt's doing over there you remember there were people in in this very zone,

That suggested before the draft that we should do a Ricky Williams type New Orleans idiotic just use all our draft picks to pick up this guy, and what he's done so far in this league is being an average tight end good moments bad moments..

So, Pitts is solid but not generational, I mean and then you add Bijon Robinson I hate to pick on the Falcons and I'm a Longhorn fan but dude them two together what exactly have they done these were both players coming out of college that were considered as good or better than AJ. It also brings up the question Is everybody thinks we should definitely have fixed the running back position last year which is true but these generational running backs even the ones we know are great what did Barry Sanders do for Detroit what did Saquan Barkley do for the Giants what did Derek Henry do for the Titans or the Ravens hell the Ravens finished worse last year with him than they did without him and I know it's not because of him looking for more but you are always probably more than 1 to 2 players away we've seen it I mean these free agents that have brought in that everybody wants us to go bring in typically don't put most teams over the top you have to have a lot of luck with injuries things have to go right etc etc

So in my opinion, there's no such thing, that's the problem with questions like this who we are getting in the draft nobody knows will they turn out to be pro bowlers hall of Famers generational nobody knows so these questions on threads must be from boredom because the best answer is,
we don't know TBD INC
hell we don't even know what the roster is going to look like until we get into training camp have a better idea who might make this roster who's going to be the starters who's healthy who's not but I'd say with digs and overshown and Butler all injured, Still a big question on who our tackles are going to be are they going to take the step is Guyton staying at left tackle I mean these are things we're going to find out in camp and preseason i'll have a better answer even though I won't be correct 2 weeks before the season starts cut down days and a lot more information...

The answer for all 32 teams would be no because it doesn't matter who you draft it matters how the team comes together this year nothing matters from last year I don't care who the Super Bowl winners or the favorites are you have to be lucky with injuries the new coaching Staffs and new players you brought in yes the new draft picks matter but it all needs to come together cause it only takes one or two bad steps when you're cooking a gourmet meal to a point where it just didn't come out the way you wanted you missed something it happens there's just no guarantees right now nobody is one or two players away because they can end up losing 6 players to injury you're saying we should assume a relatively healthy team but you can't do that this is why we watch these games it's a reality TV at its best is sport you just watch the seventeen games and you hope for your team ends up on top..

Again I'll say it no team is too draft picks two elite draft picks away from a Super Bowl because they have to play the 17 games too many moving parts too many injuries too many questions have to be answered throughout a long season.... Ask the Dallas stars how this goes whether it seemed to be the favorite a lot they seemed to get to the playoffs they went on an 8 game losing streak to end the season lost their first game against Colorado they were penciled in as one of the top teams in the league and now they're struggling just to win a game in overtime there's so many factors too much and they even made a great trade like they thought was going to put him over the top and maybe they will win it this year but there's just no guarantees in this league so let's just watch the roster develop let's have fun with the draft and just watch the season and stop having anxiety over everything like everybody else in here has...

Can those guys play defense too?

Please don't use Cowboys and SB in the same sentence.
We will be getting all that nonsense from Jerry soon enough.

Pitts is a great example you gave. Agree. However, Jeanty seems to be a different breed. We will see.

This team has dropped off and is not really that close to truly competing for a title unfortunately

Bingo. All the sexy picks in the world like wr won't help us much . This game is played ,won and lost up front. Trench warfare. Fans and TV experts seem to forget so fast what we just witnessed in the last playoffs in 2024. The team that can bully you on both sides wins and it ain't close.

Not sure any RB could live up to that when on a team with OL questions that will likely often be playing from behind for the foreseeable future.

Draft a top RB high when you’re ready to win. This team is not.

Jeanty won’t be there anyway. The more I look at this draft, the more I think it’s the weakest one overall since 2009.

This roster is so deep - this draft class will have a tough time seeing the field.
