Video: Are the Dallas Cowboys actually underrated? Nick Wright sure thinks so

Absolutely the Cowboys are being underrated. You're talking about a team that was 14-2 if we had a reason to play starters last season.

Granted, they earned part of the underrating because they didn't go to the NFCCG or the Super Bowl. If they beat the Packers and lost the NFC title game or the super bowl even, then they'd be more respected. You gotta win in the playoffs to get the respect. The Chiefs get the same thing.

There's also the fact that people saw the big defensive turnover in the secondary and they thought it meant they were guaranteed to get worse. Those of us who actually knew the team knew that the guys they lost were not difference makers and there was a decent chance they'd actually improve on defense, especially with getting guys like Tapper in the mix.

It's whatever. If they're 4-0 going into the Packers game people will still act like they haven't done anything yet, and if they lose to the Packers it'll all be back to the Cowboys not being legit.

I think we were a bit underrated coming in. The fact that so many thought the Giants had passed us in the offseason is an indication of that.

We're one of the 3-4 best NFC teams, at least. Or ought to be, on paper right now.

Whatever. It doesn't matter. Win a couple of games and people will be talking about us as NFC darlings again. Nothing matters this year in the year except stacking wins and staying in position for the playoffs.

Discarding our effort because Odell didn't play. Wow 1 player makes a team I guess according to Carter.

According to the entire media actually.

We've gotten little to no credit for that victory bc of Beckham's injury.

Yeah, we have. Don't kid yourself. There are some open wounds getting licked in Giants world. They saw what happened. The Cowboys played very average and dominated, with a young stock of inexpensive players that are on the way up. The Giants are a collection of aging free agent signings that have a cohesion problem, led by a quarterback in decline.

Don't listen to their words. Look at their faces.

Ms. Friel is probably in therapy as I write this.

Correct. They will learn of who we are again as last year, where they said wait till next game. Lol.

At least at this early stage and the way things are lining up in our favor (and against others) this team could possibly match last year's record.

Certainly did not think that a month ago.

:flagwave:

Maybe karma is giving us a little bit of good fortune back for 2015?

Did you happen to see Mcadoo's pressed after that game?

I'm wondering what he's ever accomplished to be so arrogant?

The guy acts like he's Bill Parcells or Bill Belicheck in how he talks down to people. Not that they often do that, but the fact that they've actually accomplished something.

Someone tell Carter the only "big butt" is the one that's attached to his neck. And it looks to be hurting bad.

You know, as much talk as we hear about how Dez is one of the hardest working, hardest practicing players on the team, why hasn't his route running improved? Also, why doesn't Linnehan move him around?

I really don't know how to judge the NY Giants without Odell. I think they may be one of the worst offenses in the league without him . Eli is in a huge decline mode and their Oline sucks, They have no running game at all and Eli has always struggled without a run game because he has always been inconsistent.

Does not really matter. We will see in week 5 and week 10 how good our secondary really is. Until then we probably won't know for sure. We will have a better feel for our Dline over the next few weeks to see if there are for real or just abusing incompetence against NY.

That is really the fun of taking 1 game at a time!

The knock on Dez' route running has been overblown. He took a couple of years early on to get it down. But they do move him around the formation and he does run a variety of routes.

His real issue early on was struggling to make the right adjustments to routes based off of what the defense would do, and he and Tony would be on the wrong page as a result. Tony covered for him, but it was an issue. But even that he got sorted out by his 4th year or so in the league.

Dez is fast, but doesn't have elite speed, and good cover CBs can limit him if their good enough to stop him from high-pointing the ball. You can't really play him too physically because that's part of his game, too, so the refs let it go. So guys like Xavier Rhodes and Jenkins and Norman can more or less play him to a tie. That's fine. If you don't have a guy like that, you have to roll coverage to him. If you do, we're checked on that front, you take your chances, and you attack elsewhere. He's still a valuable piece of the puzzle, and he's capable of beating good coverage now and then, too, so you can live with it.

He's not elite, but that's ok. He's very good. And he's about to have a very good year if he stays healthy.
