Are the Lions that good?

Or is it just because they played Kansas City?

Detroit beat Kansas City 48-3, and Buffalo beat Kansas City 41-7.

Are these two teams really tops in the NFL, or did they just play what is probably the worst team in the NFL?

(Bills also played the Patriots who have the worst defense in the NFL, except for maybe Kansas City).

Detroit LOOKS pretty good to me, but I'm not going to shake in my boots leading up to the game.

Their front 7 is legit. Suh is a monster. Is Fairley playing? These are my only concerns.

Yeah, they're good. The front 4 is awesome. I'd say their secondary and linebackers are vulnerable, but it doesn't matter if you can't block their line.

We can handle their offense, but Johnson is almost indefensible at times. If they get him one on one with Newman, I think they win that battle often. Jenkins would probably hold up better as he's more physical, but it will be a challenge. They don't have a running game to speak of, so it will be all on our pass rush and secondary. They like to throw to the TE Pettigrew, so we will need Lee and Sensabaugh to keep up the good work.

It's going to be a tough game, and we rarely play them well, even when they aren't good.

from watching ESPN last night, it was reported as unlikely that Fairley would play on Sunday.

I would say at this point and based on their opponents thus far, the Lions should be viewed as a middle of the pack team. IMHO and if the Cowboys show up on Sunday and play to their potential, Detroit hasn't played against a team this year close to the Boys offensive & defensive horse power.

Don't take them lightly.....if we can stop Calvin...and get to stafford we should be good to go

this game will really test our secondary....and thank god we should have O Scan back

Secondary can be had IF Romo can stand in there and wait for the WR to get downfield.

It would be nice to have Miles Austin out there, but I think we can win this game without him. I know we're all down on O-Tree, but with a full week of practice with Romo, I think he and Robinson will be much better prepared.

As far as taking the Lions lightly, I don't think the Cowboys take any team lightly, so I wish fans would stop saying this. Hell, the Lions had better not take the Cowboys lightly. It works both ways.

Dude OTree has had 3 years of full blown practices

O-tree had all pre-season with Austin out to get lots of reps. He had several players pushing him and he seemed to respond. But He has regressed badly the last couple of weeks. There is just no excuse for a player with his experience not to know his job. I'm not saying he should be perfect but he should know where to line up and he should make the same reads as the QB most of the time. I'm just not seeing that from him.

I'll take a well prepared, less skilled player over someone like O-tree every day. I'd rather see Holley and Harris get his reps.

Yeah 'Tree is what he is at this point....still trying to figure out why they haven't brought in Donnie Avery for a look-see, but it doesn't look like it will happen so guess we're stuck until Austin comes back.

I know this sounds odd, but would Ryan dare put Ball on Megatron considering he is our tallest CB?

Yeah the idea that Ogletree will be better this week is ridiculous, not because he can't have a better game (don't know how he could have a worse game than fumbling in our own redzone, missing a would be touchdown, and running a wrong route in a key redzone drive), but the idea that he needs another week of practice to get up to speed is ridiculous.

Laurent Robinson is another player I don't know why everyone is so high on.

He had 3 catches, should have had 4. He fumbled on one of the catches, and was lucky it went out of bounds, and should have had a touchdown on the other. He doesn't have very much speed. He is what he is.

You're right about that. Some fans still act as if Wade is our HC. Garrett is not going to let the Cowboys take any opponent lightly. Let Stafford and his crew take us lightly while we take care of business.

With each game I think our team will be getting better. Especially on defense. Can't wait to see what Rob dials up this Sunday.

Sorry but the Lions arent who they think they are!

They have faced TWO 0-3 teams!! Only one team with a winning record (Tampa Bay) and barely scraped by with a win there.

Tampa has beat the 0-3 Vikings and the 2-1 Falcons that is not an impressive feat.

Offensively the Lions are not much better than us.

Yards per completion:
*Romo : 14.4
Stafford: 12.3

Yards Per Carry:
*Jones: 4.6
Best: 2.9

Yards Per Catch:
*Austin: 16.6
Johnson 14.0

* Player has missed time due to injuries, or is playing injured.

He has good speed. The guy didn't even know the offense, and was making plays. What more do you want? We need anyone beside our starting wr's to make a play, pretty or not. Period.

They're streaky which makes them dangerous. The defense will have to hold them down the entire 4 quarters. We're not good enough right now offensively to get into a shootout with this team. They're healthy and very confident with a lot of weapons.

Defensively, the threat of the sack/fumble with their front 4 is always a concern.
