hey everyone, Ive noticed this board has a wide range of individuals with professional careers (pilots, accountants, project mangers, business owners, etc.)
To make a long story short, I have been auditing for about 4 years (3 in tax compliance with the IRS and 1 as an internal auditor in state government.)
I have been feeling burnt out in the audit field and I've had colleagues that have transitioned to becoming actuaries. I was doing a bit research recently and saw the pay (on average) is slightly more then I currently earn (~750 a month.) I've noticed that actuaries appear to have a really good work/life balance (telecommute options) with a better end goal in terms of job satisifaction and salary.
Does anyone work (currently or previously) as an actuary that can tell me their experience with it and if you believe it would be a career worth moving to? I am in no rush to make this decision, just looking for some input.
Ps I'm aware of the MANY tests/certs actuaries take as well. I'm not afraid of hard work.
