There has been a few trades of players that are high salaries in bad teams.
First it was Richardson, then Monroe and Brown both were traded.
Made me start to wonder if there are any players Dallas could maybe trade for and positions that we need.
Tampa bay came to mind. Gerald McCoy has one year left on his contract and is very high.
he is a 10.9 million cap hit this year and a 13 million cap hit next year.
Tampa might be ready to trade him for a few picks.Dallas gets a day one starting DT that is perfect for the Tampa 2 and is still very young. We can sign him to a new long term deal and lower his salary cap for next year. Also still gives Dallas a 1st to spend on another position next year or for a another young DT. Dallas would probably have to give up a few picks for McCoy if they don't want to give up a first.
Darnell Docket is another player that came to mind that could fit in at DT and wouldn't have to give up as much as McCoy.
Dockett is a 7.7 cap hit this year and a 8.75 next year and is 32 years old.
much rather get McCoy but wouldn't have to give up as many picks or any where near for Dockett.
Then the real dream trade came to me. Cleveland has Ahtyba Rubin playing 3-4 DE but is a true 1 tech DT which would be great next to Hatcher. Rubin is young at 27 and is a 7.5 million cap hit this year andnext year is his last deal at 8 million cap hit. We could get a new long term deal done to lower the cap hit next year.
Also wouldn't have to give up as much for Rubin as you would McCoy as he was a late round pick.
The dream comes in with adding Joe Haden to he trade. Haden has two years left on his deal after this year with a very high cap hit both years. Haden still young at 24 and is a perfect fit in the Tampa 2 but his high cap numbers might be reason for Browns to listen.
Dallas could offer mid round picks and a young promising much cheaper CB(Claiborne) for Rubin and Haden. Haden replaces Claiborne and Ruben replaces Hayden at DT.
Also Haden was a favorite of Secondary coach Jerome Henderson when he was the secondary coach with the Browns.
All three trades probably would never work and is probably just a dream scenario but I would hope that it atleast came across the minds in Dallas and all three are worth a phone call.
