Are we all in agreement that CJ Spillman is a Special Teams monster?

He just has a knack for being the first one down on coverage almost every time.

He destroyed Golden Tate on the opening punt, who deserves kudos because I don't know how he hung onto that ball.

But the biggest play Spillman made yesterday was a critical coverage tackle on Jeremy Ross that had Detroit starting their possession at their own 5 yard line.

That tackle was crucial because Detroit's drive ended up stalling at the Dallas 46. If they get decent field possession to start that drive, that drive results in a FG which changes the course of the whole game.

Spillman started off slow with the Boys, racking up a few holding penalties (one that negated a Dwayne PR for a TD) and had most of the fanbase thinking he was a scrub. But he's showed why he earned the reputation he did in San Fran.

He was the one who recovered the muffed punt return against Seattle. He was the one who recovered the muffed punt return vs. Jacksonville. On Bailey's short kickoff vs. Philly, the guy who recovered the kickoff? Spillman.

Move over Dwayne, there's another Special Teams ace on the squad.

I agree. I think he's turning into a real weapon on special teams.

While I think we'll end up keeping Harris, if not, we at least have someone who can step into that role at least a little.

i'll agree he was last night.

i'll let him make a habit out of it before I start calling a trend. saves my own useless disappointment.

It took him half a season IMO to make his mark, but these last 2 months he's really come on strong

He was a pro bowler as a special teamer last year for the 49ers.

It's not a fluke.
