Are we an old team or something?

People here are saying no to players because of their age, so are we too old or something? Will bringing in one or two vets kill us for the future?

Wake up people. We were 13-3 last year. Some vets may help bring leadership and if they are an upgrade, than so be it. We are legit Super Bowl contenders. Should we throw that away and prepare for the future?

Or, am I all around missing something here?

IMHO, i don't think we old but we're not young are players are starting to come into their own. However that doesn't mean we bring in old players for leadership. We have enough of that alread with the players in house. Greg Ellis Flo RW TO. we want people that are going to stay a long time and be franchise players we have our QB TE we just needx some players dependin on how long TO can play for he might beo ur franchise WR and we still need a RB

Zach should be rought in because he has great instincts.

He flows to the ball better than Ayodele and plays better in coverage.

It makes a lot sense to me no matter his age.

I think most fans remember how signing vets hasn't worked out for us, so they would prefer for us to stay away from those guys. I don't mind going after some vets here and there, just make sure the contract is something that the team can get out of feasibly in a year if the player gets injured.

Depends on the possition, age/wear and tear on the vet, money and years of the contract.

Where would you propose we bring in a vet? Other than maybe Flo leaving about the only possition i can think of are WR, CB and FS if Hamlin leaves. Zack would have been an upgrade over Akin, maybe, if healthy, all depnding on how much the Pats give him. These "vets" of which you speak have to make sense on several levels. If the deal makes sense, then i'm all for it, ala TO, Hamlin and yes even Rivera.

I agree with you for the most part ....the Cowboys i believe are the 4th youngest team in league.....just not at WR or CB

Bringing in a vet can be good but I think you have to be careful of the player. I know many like Zack Thomas but yes the ideal of a MLB who is coming off some major concussion issues to me is a red flag. Also the length of contract plays a part, I don't want to see Dallas make a major commitment to players on the downside of their career. I know Thomas still has the heart to play but how many times do we see vet players hanging on when they really should retire

Last year we were supposedly the 4th youngest team in the NFL & one of the most talented teams but we still went one and out. We don't have any visible leadership on this team while Parcells was here partly cause few if any wanted to step into the leadership vaccuum or else Parcells shadow too big.

Cowboy players elected Romo & Witten as captains along with Bradie James & Keith Davis; TO appointed himself as a captain of sorts. On many teams it is the vets who are the captains and set the tone but we got only young players as captains. And we can stop thinking that Adams, RWilliams, Ellis are leaders.

I'd like to see us bring in a FA vet who does have the fire/intensity and focus (would also help if he had won a few playoff games) to get this team over the December slump we've gone through for many years. Thomas apparently good enough (past physical) to get a2 year contract offer from NE at near minimum wage with incentives. If he's healthy and Wade thinks he can help us (hopefully beat out Ayodele whose play last season fell off according to Breer) that you better believe we should look at him.

We're not an old team.
But neither is it wise to get older, just cause someone has "leadership" abilities or "experience" but whose tank is nearly empty.
