Are We Cool with Chalking Up Lack of Sacks to QB’s Getting the Ball Out Quick?

We lead the league in pressures and Micah had an incredible game in terms of pressure. To minshew's credit he got rid of the ball well but in the 4th especially we forced him to simply throw the ball out of bounds a ton.
Menshew played smart
He had rather throw it away, and did several times than take a sack
But wear on the bodies of these guys is a factor as well as losing brown and Lewis

In response to the thread title…that’s only part of it. We’re playing the run more, because our secondary has been weakened by injury. We can’t go all in on pass rushing until we get the back end locked down.

Well we had both Williams and Armstrong out against the shegals, so that hurt.
Also we are attempting to tighten up our run defense and play the run and not the pass first?
Armstrong played, but yes Williams was out.

And yup the slow down in pressure has coincided with an emphasis on run D. Good point!

Oh, sorry, was he effective?
He is very nicked.
Nope he’s been slowed down by that ankle. Hoping it’s slowly healing so by the time playoffs come around he’s not feeling it much. DLaw also has a bad foot he’s been dealing with.

That's part of it but bad coverage is also part of it. Too many easy completions for QB. The Cowboys need to get more aggressive in coverage and take away the primary receivers. If you leave teh short route for quick throws open, that's what the offense will do. The game play is to get in short yardage situations against the Cowboys because they stuff so few runs at the LOS. Getting Hankins back will help that.

If this is true it should be reflected in lower YPA by opposing QBs, coinciding with the decline in sacks.

Wouldn't this also depend on whether or not the defense actually stops the attempt? YAC plays into that, doesn't it. I guess you would need Air Yards per Attempt, and I don't know of a reliable source that breaks that down game-by-game.

It is clearly teams getting rid of the ball, BUT, I would think that would make it easier on the defense, but it does not appear to be the case.
Yep. You’d think we’d counter with tighter coverage/few free releases.
