The new CBA has been signed guys. We know the salary caps will boom in the coming seasons as TV contacts are renewed, gambling is legalized, and players are given a higher percentage share of the revenue. Again, THE SALARY CAP IS GOING UP!

The old issues of the quarterback taking too much of the cap and needing to win on rookie deals to be able to sign players is, at least immediately, null. 35-36M$ deals are no longer death sentences for teams with non-elite QB’s. These numbers occupy a smaller percentage as the cap is increasing and will continue to boom. We are fortunate to be able to sign him before this thing is a few years down the line. Imagine what Mayfield and Darnold are gonna be staring at if they make it to a new deal.

Now if guys ask for 45M$ then that issue reoccurs, but by all recent reports the team and Dak are in the same ballpark money wise (seems to be 34-36 range) and the issue now remains a 4 vs 5 year deal.

Jerry and Stephen both said they were hoping the CBA passed as it gave them more options to get the deal done. They know just like Dak’s team knew that the cap will allow for this deal to not be nearly as deadly as it could have been to the cap.

Why we still treat things like it’s the old CBA befuddles me

I never talk about contracts or another mans money but some of these numbers are going to look absurd and im a huge baseball fan so ive seen some eye popping contracts

soon some qbs are going to make 40 million per season

The cap will continue to go up...eventually. I'm just not so sure it is going to be over the next couple seasons. I'm not sure why people think the NFL revenue stream wont be effected by current events.

I could be missing something here, but it seems that less revenue for the NFL in 2020 = a lower salary cap in 2021

Cap and salaries won’t go up too much until the new tv contracts are negotiated.

I think the OP has a great point. I have great faith that the economy will recover quickly. The NFL is in great shape to take advantage of these coming years...new CBA, the new TV deal is just around the corner.

When the cap goes up player contracts will go up. So nothing will really change. The teams that are good at evaluating talent will still be on top of the mound. And winning on rookie contracts will still be the thing to do.

Very soon
But with nfl it’s a pct of revenue so it doesn’t cost any team more than another really

why the pahck does Dak employer billionaires who own the team have too pay top dollar to a top 10 qb if they dont feel hes playing fair? heck NO , dak should budge on years and guarantees if he want a shorter deal or take longer deal and more money..team friendly is being able to compromise,.dak is not the special qb he thinks he is and wont budge..

Te DC FO do not owe him anything and its a business they choose to run the way they think is correct and what they make ALL the concessions? 34/ 110 I mean what next?

Dak was offered fair deal above his play grade IMO yet he still wants more and more..IDC anymore im on the FO side now..Dak lost me..

negotiations are about both sides feeling like they win. daks not giving anything to help the FO feel that way..so here he sits..no ones crying for a player who has to settle for a FT 33 mil per season..woe's dak..poor thing.. also now with some unmentionable's behavior, dudes ego has grown beyond his talent..

im over it..cant wait for the draft

Good post and I don’t blame Dak at all. The blame goes to the Cowboys for not getting this deal done already. Come on Jerry/Stephen put the JW down for a second and get this deal done.

Why not the player salary percentage of revenues is going to be increased and they are adding a 17th game?

17th game added at option of the owners and won’t be until the tv rights are also negotiated most likely. They are not adding the 17th game this year. And probably won’t next year. It will be 2022 or 2023 most likely.

Maybe. Or maybe games will be played with less than a full stadium and revenue actually decreases. IDK.

Just because you can afford to allocate money to a position does not mean that you “should”.

The Cowboys latest reported contract screwed Dak on BOTH guaranteed money and years. They tried to give Dak $105 million guaranteed on a five year extension when Goff got $110 million guaranteed on a 4 year extension. It is the Cowboys that have to give something if they want a deal done.

That is correct. NHL will be feeling the squeeze next year for example and the cap there may drop 30%.
But, it's the dead season right now for money for the NFL. They won't be feeling the money squeeze until August/September and who knows where we are at that time with the new season.

2022 new TV contracts come into play. Now before all this mess it was expected to drastically rise in price to win the rights to the NFC/AFC showings. That was the big jump everyone was expecting.

So because the cap is going up we have to throw that precious money away on a QB who has us going downhill since his rookie year?
Hmmm, Pass Jerry Pass!

Cap going up?
It's time to rebuild the horrible D, not cough it up for an average QB ...

Dak balks at offer.
Dallas drafts a QB in the 2nd round and has until December to work with him.
Dallas trades Dak to Arizona, Atlanta or Minnie Soda and gets linemen.
Me Irish eyes are smilin'.

Odd how you base all this on normal times. For example, does Dak sign for 2020 or 2021 season? Do contracted players get paid in a no-season or one until 2021?
