You all know consolation prizes. If you go on a game show on TV and don't win a million bucks or an awesome vacation, they still give you a lousy copy of their home game. Or if you meet a really hot girl and give it a shot, but she gives you the "let's be friends" speech or worse, sets you up with her fat friend.

We keep doing that. We show some improvement in certain areas and have some exciting games, setting up a situation where if we win, we're in the playoffs. But we don't win. We fight hard and make some cool plays, but we go home. Consolation prize. Some years, it's we have a great record, only to go to the playoffs and get immediately eliminated.
