Are we missing a key factor?

Here'a a point that has occurred to me about our inability to followup successful seasons with another one..

In 2014..we were coming off an 8-8 seaaon from 2013.

Our schedule was based on an average record the precious year.

Therefore our schedule was weak..and we won the division.

2015 came along and we had a much tougher schedule and Romo went down and we cratered.

2016 came along and we were playing a weak schedule again based on our previous year.

We played well.

Now 2017 comes along and we crater after Zeke leaves.

The similarities are that we lose ONE key player in 2015 and then again in 2017 and it's splitsville.

So obviously we as fans don'the seem to understand that this team is not really designed to succeed unless it's playing a chump schedule.

I know we are all drawing at straws trying to see what is wrong..

But this seems obvious to me.

Garrett in his years here has not really had an impact on our franchise and doesn't really know how to be a real HC at the NFL level.

Look what Sean Payton is doing with NO again.

We missed our legacy when we didn't retain him.

It's now rebuild time and we will have an easy schedule next year and probably win again a year or two from now.

But still not sustain it.

It's been 22 years since we have won a World Title.

How does this change?

We have to at minimum change the OC/DC. I wand Red out asap, but if JJ will not do that he must do this. The offense can't be anything that JG knows as well.

Cavanaugh on the Fan this morning said if we were to switch out our WR's with the Rams, of Copper Cupp, Sammy Watkins, and Woods he said it wouldn't make a difference with this scheme we run. He said he's seen Linny's scheme with other teams as well and this isn't his scheme, it's JG's we are running.

The leadership is the issue.

Jerry always believes we are one ball bounce away from winning.

Will McClay, either under orders, or his personal belief that he has an eye for unknown, cost-effective players that will come here and be great. Also a recent obsession with SPARQ ratings and other measurables in the draft.

Jason Garrett spends more times worrying about slogans and press conference answers than strategies and adjustments.

The "key factor" we are missing is leadership.

Reggie Bush was a thousand yard receiver with Linehan...

That SPARQ crap got us Byron freaking Jones while actually watching film and picking a guy that knows how to play a technical position and make plays got the NYG Landon Collins many picks after our first round bust.

We need to stop worrying about terms like "quick twitch" and "RKG" and go get some animals.

But that goes against this new-age, analytical philosophy. In all likelihood, nothing will change.

Success is awarded with a harder schedule. It's hard to be elite from one year to the next. Teams like the Patriots are to be commended for being contenders every year.

sigh

unless JJ succumbs to someone not named Jerry Jones, we are stuck...my (and many in here) decades of service to this organization is being kicked to the floor once again...there is no knowledge from the (lack of) brain-trust of what we all put into this team 365 days/year....the bottom line for JJ is the bottom line...as long as people keep buying what he is selling, he isn't going to listen to small bands of people....the stadium is filled with 10,000+ fans of the opponent each week, but their money is just as green - heck, that may be considered "new" money since he has sucked many of us dry both financially and emotionally....

....not sure what could ever change that for me....I am sure that I will be watching all 60 minutes this week, regardless of the beating the team takes or if the players give up...

I think the schedule has something to do with it, but also remember Linehan designed a offense for Romo in 2014 which featured a lot of horizontal Stuff Des was catching 5 to 7 yard passes and running 20 yards down the field untouched. By the end of the season people were starting to figure that offense out and by 2015 they were just stacking a line. I don't care if Romo was there or not we still wouldn't have had a good record in 2015 because Linehan struggles to adjust.
Or he's just too arrogant.
Same thing last year with Dak, he made a hybrid offense which combined his stuff with Dax College stuff and was some basic misdirection and we shredded through the league.
This year he's dialed a lot of that offense back and gone more towards his base which is inside running.
What bothers me is like the sweeps. we run right with a sweep and I swear in the last three games we have chalked up a ton of yardage running out there. In fact more than a couple times they've highlighted our Center and guard demolishing people out there yet he refuses to do it on a consistent basis or making a defense stop it .

Easiest way to clear linebackers out from the line of scrimmage or gas some pass rushers you start running Sweeps. but yet he goes back to his base inside crap I'm so frustrated with this guy.

The variable part of the schedule only affects 2 of the 16 games, and interestingly enough the two teams we played that are unique from our rivals are both currently third in their division.

Yep, and the AFC West has one team with barely a winning record. Our schedule isn't all that tough this year. It wasn't in 2015 either.

We are missing _____________.

Common sense.

  • It was easy to see that Chaz was getting destroyed and needed help.
  • It was easy to see that we our secondaries were playing too soft even by design
  • It was easy to see that the sun was getting into everyone's eyes
  • It was easy to see that Garrett is clueless
  • It was easy to see that Jaylon wasn't fully recovered
  • It was easy to see that Taco was getting stood up and pushed back on almost every play
  • It was easy to see that the cowboys gave up

The schedule stuff is so over exaggerated around here.

Every team plays the EXACT same opponents that their division rivals play.....with the exception of a whopping TWO games.

Some of you guys act like 1st place and 4th place play an entirely different assortment of opponents. It's just not how it works.

I think scheduling is a huge factor because I’m of the belief that there’s not a huge talent gap between the best team or the worst team.

The Patriots can thank their awful division opponents for not having to deal with the schedule issue. It’s very easy to get 6 auto wins and if they’re in a row, to get your team on a roll when you play the Jets, Bills and Dolphins 6 Times a year

Part of that is definitely related to the specific receivers.

Linehan is limited in what he can do with this group.
Dez - Dumb. They apoear to have eliminated option routes because he continually screwed them up.
TWill - Limited on what types of passes/routes he can catch.
Beasley - Quick not fast. Really small.
Witten - Slow but plays 100% of the snaps.
Butler - Makes route running mistakes.

An OC can work around some limited players but at some point it's just too much.

Even just adding a Tyreek Hill type of big play threat would open things up even if he is not a true #1 type WR.

It all comes down to a fundamental disrespect for the role of Head Coach. Jimmy wasn’t important; 500 coaches could’ve won with that roster. Parcells wasn’t shi*p*; he was just a name to help get Jerry’s new stadium built.

None of this changes unless Jerry has a road to Damascus type epiphany.
