Are we prepared or not

No. We are not prepared. This weak head coach has once again chosen protection over preparation. His approach to the preseason was disgraceful. The fact that he would do this after getting his own team eliminated in 2016 using this same scared philosophy tells you he has to go.

This has to be the most uncertain I've been about this team in years. We just have so many new faces on offense and haven't seen any of them together yet. I'm excited but have NO idea how it's going to actually be.
My sentiments exactly

But to add, if I had to lean one way or another I'm probably more bearish on this season's version based solely on the coaching deficiencies (aka I don't trust Garrett one iota)

I would really like to think after all these years that Garrett has a master plan to spring on the panthers and the league with all these new players on offense playing none of them in preseason and showing nothing .

But my gut tells me these guys have not had enough time or game experience to get on the same page with one another .

I think there is a bunch of new talent here just worried we are unprepared to use it correctly. Hope Im wrong . If the penalty flags are flying early it will confirm my fears.

Any thoughts on what seems to be Garretts fear of injury over building chemistry with this new group

Garrett bought a new pair of gloves. He's ready for the clappin now. Kinda concerned that the starting offense played only one quarter in the pre-season games. I get the injury fear but we did play Romo in the last pre-season game he ever played in. Was JG fearless back then or just dumb:muttley:

And that's why I'm so uncertain. We saw Austin in one game, Gallup in all 4, Beas in the 3rd game running with the 2's, and a bunch of crappy TE play. Conner Williams probably played more than anyone. Just a wasted PS at least offensively with all the new faces.

Garret is highly prepared. His game preparation is legendary. The problem is that when things don't go his way during the actual game, he stubbornly sticks to his preparation as if reality did not exist.

I agree that real reps for Dak and his new crew would absolutely be beneficial. However with Martin hurt, the beard out, and tyrkns chronic back not needing to get exposed you had better be really careful not getting your only decent QB hurt in a meaningless game. The best news is Zeke shouldn't need a real game to be ready, he might start a bit slower but will finish strong.

Likely not. We go down 21-3, fight back and come up shortly. Garrett says his impressesed with the fight in his guys. They showed toughness and heart and we will get this right
:thumbdown:Agree! It's defintely not going to look pretty. With all the changes around Big D, releasing Dez and losing Witty, I just think our 'Boys will use game one to feel the new team out. Now, don’t forget, this is a really young team.

The 'Boys will look lethargic and slow, especially as a visiting team. The 'Boys will put up a good fight, but in the end, I see a 31-17 ending. We lose game 1.

Garrett can be as prepared as he wants to be and have the team on whatever level that is. Most of the time, the Head Coach that's opposite of him is just flat out a better coach and that's the difference.

Jason Garrett isn't in Ron Rivera's league as far as being a coach is concerned. There is no doubt in my mind that Jason Garrett is going to be outcoached Sunday. The only chance we have is if our athletes man up and are better than their athletes on the field.

We are one of the youngest teams in the league and the Panthers are one of the oldest. They are at home and have the personel up front on defense to give our run game fits.

I think the Panthers win 31-13. Hopefully I'm embarrassingly wrong.

Looking at the schedule, I think the Cowboys have a really good shot at getting a game lead over the Eagles and Giants. I like Atlanta and Jacksonville's chances of winning those games. I'm not sure if the Cardinals can beat the Commanders but I don't think the Skins will be the Cowboys main concern in the East. I really hope the Cowboys are prepared for week 1. Would be nice to get a leg up on the Eagles and Giants if they get beat by some pretty strong opponents.

My heart is telling me that we have a real shot at the win, my head however is already preparing for disappointment :banghead:
Can we really be competitive with the lack of game time the starters have had? I reckon we'll be rusty and the Panthers will jump out early, whether we can hang on to their coattails is anyone's guess

I have to agree. Most likely these guys will come out flat. It's tough to stay on the sidelines for 2+ weeks much less all of preseason and then be expected to hit on all cylinders. It usually doesn't work like that. A good run game will help. Excited to see the season get started.

Aside from Romo being brilliant, the offense hasn't been ready to go Week 1 in the JG era that I can remember.

Granted, Romo being brilliant is basically all that worked for this team until 2014.

In the 7 opening games with Garrett as head coach, the team has averaged 385 yards in offense (280 passing, 105 rushing), and 24 pts per game. It's not top of the NFL level, but it ain't bad.

As for whether they will be ready to go this week one, it does worry me a little that we didn't really see many of the starters being used together in preseason. I don't know if that means the team can't pull it together and do well, but it at least means the fans are going in a little in the dark.
