For the purposes of this thread/poll: The definition of a "quality football team " is a legitimate playoff team, with a reasonable expectation to contend

I am in the wait and see mode.

Voted sell mainly based on the lack of a HC search. This was a pivotal moment for this franchise to show they wanted to contend. Instead they showed us what many already know. Being relevant is more important than winning a SB.

Am I going to cheer for them. Absolutely. I cant not cheer for the Cowboys.

Am I expecting anything other than another first round exit? No.

Am I expecting to even make the playoffs? Unless a lot of other teams do horribly. No.

“Contend” for what?

A Super Bowl? No.

Could they get into the wild card round and beat some NFC south team or whatever? Sure.
"reasonable expectation of contention"

Think the McCarthy/Quinn years where you go into the playoffs with the belief you can make an actual run. Not a 9-8/10-7 tourist

Im selling

-We are counting on reclamation projects, and late round picks at LB and HB. The areas could wind up liabilities.

-Our CB depth is razor thin, our Nickel CB could wind up being a guy that wouldn't make half the rosters in the NFL.

-Our run defense is very suspect, and could neutralize what could be a very good pass rush.

-OT's are very suspect

I think we will probably be a playoff contending team. 9-8 or 10-7. However, what I listed above I believe will make it very difficult to beat good teams, and limit our ceiling

SELL!

The FO actually made some decent moves and had a decent draft. That being said, the team is still depleted, too many backups, not enough starters.

I would consider 8-9 a good season.

Sell until proven otherwise, there are decades of evidence for my stance. They have had a better offseason than the last few but some of the same weaknesses still remain. Time will tell…..

Acquiring Pickens was a beautiful thing but its not enough. The majority of aquisitions won't move the needle based on what those players have shown in the NFL......the rookies are an unknown.
Decent additions but far too early to buy. Shotty is a big question mark for me. Hopeful though.

I think Vegas is right at 7.5 wins. 7 or 8 is what I am expecting. Draft looks decent. FA looks meh. I expect many of the same problems from last year to carry over.

And like I've posted before, most sane humans should be skeptical of the Schottenheimer selection because of inexperience at the position and not being coveted by a single other NFL team.

However, its entirely POSSIBLE the man may be the next Vince Lombardi and I'm open to that.

Lombardi huh? So you expect him to say "what the hell is going on out here" a lot?

I think we win the division. I think we will go to the playoffs. As far as contending for a SB, not even close, its a shame, 52 of the 53 are good to go,, just one position is holding this team hostage.

I used to allow myself a degree of hope or excitement each year. No playoff success for decades now.

Then the Dak extension without any idea of how he'd move post injury... Then SF1 embarrassment, nothing changed ... Then SF2 embarrassment, nothing changed... Then GB happened, inexplicably nothing changed... Then it looked like we might be moving on from Dak, signed him to the highest deal ever for real reason... Then one the league's worst red zone teams last year, they try to resign the play caller, MM... Then they make the journeyman offensive coordinator who's never won anything or excited anyone the new HC...

I'm done with hope. I'm done expecting anything positive. I'll start buying back in .. a little.. when we win 2 playoff games in a row or hire an actual GM to actually be in the GM role, fully.

I'll watch it all and check this site 5-10 times a day, even in the dregs of the off-season because, well, I guess I'm addict/glutton for punishment, but I'm done believing until the team shows me or the FO shows me otherwise.

Sell....I have to recoup as much funds as possible from the last 30 years of losses.

This year tells me the more things change the more they stay the same. And I'm being VERY generous with "change".

When we DO change...it's not the most critical or the best option...not surgical or in sync. This year seems no different.
