kid may surprise but I think he ends up on PS. I think Dallas signs another cheap FS vet to back up Kazee.

I voted no, because they should have address this earlier, since they plan on converting him to S. So basically he is just another project at this point.
I will pull for his success of course. It is not that I don't like him as much as using the pick there, I just think it was another gamble type pick.

Asking a late round project to change positions and expecting him to be anything other than PS is asking too much.

Safety is a projection, but he has ball skills, and at worst should be a core special teamer. I don't think he's particularly sudden as a player, but he can beat guys up at the LOS and support against the run. Well worth a roll of the dice.

At this point in the draft you are looking for players with traits you like and hope they can contribute in some fashion.

Hard to dislike the picks this low unless there were some pet cats you liked better or the player has some past issues you strongly disagree with.

I doubt they are expecting anything more than that. Almost any 7th round is likely to either be a practice squad player or a training camp cut anyway, so it's not a big blow to have a 7th rounder spend a year learning a new position. It's not entirely new either. He was mostly a CB in college, but he played some at safety as well.

I'll say yes, given it was pick 227.

But there were plenty of UDFAs I would have preferred to take there.

The irony is that there were several people who had him ranked higher than who we took at 99. Both usually considered 6th rd to UDFA level prospects

And he has some experience at safety
He was a safety in HS and played some safety at SC

Correct not a big blow. But couldn't they find someone who's at least played the position before. Out side of the 1 year rental do we even have another FS on the roster at all?

That'll be a big fat no from me. How many 6'4" DB's actually become something in the NFL?
Not many make it and I'm expecting that trend to continue.
