Are you ok with throwing away 2022 to get Payton and clear cap for 23?
Seems like that’s what Stephen is doing.

Seems like that’s what Stephen is doing. Jerry wants Sean and wants to make it the most attractive situation possible for him. Wouldn’t be surprised if players who get injured shut it down early to improve draft stock also next year.
I feel bad for McCarthy. 2020 was decimated by injuries and 2022 the team is organically tanking. He had his 1 shot last year and that will be it.

There is a better chance then Payton is not the coach in “23 then he will be. You still have to give the Saints draft compensation. Cap Boy Stephen is not doing that.Seems like that’s what Stephen is doing. Jerry wants Sean and wants to make it the most attractive situation possible for him. no. tell me why payton is so great and how he is going to make a difference? he has as many superbowls as MM. he did it with a HOF QB. tell me the difference?
this is not an endorsement of MM. its just that I don't see the difference between the two. except one of them is more likable.

Jerry is going to be 80 in October. You’re out of your mind if you think he’s going to just have a rebuild season.

Tanking may not be the right word as they’re not trying to get the No. 1 pick. But they are doing everything to make sure 2023 is best set up for success even if it costs them 2022.
This is why I don’t understand begging to hang on to Tyron. He always missed 4-5 games a year and this year his play fell off at the end of the year as a result of all those injuries throughout the season.Play for long term success.
The cheap players who overperformed their contracts are leaving - or now overpaid like Schultz. The expensive players who underperformed are just a bad investment, and will no longer have the cheap overperformers to make up some of the slack.
We were going to get worse on the field. I'm glad they're not digging our cap hole even deeper too.
