one of my favorite x-files episodes was little green men...when arecibo received a signal from deep space and mulder goes there to gather evidence and investigate.
one of the best stand alone episodes in series history in my opinion.

I thought they were planning to just wait until it fell, rather than risk any lives demolishing it. Guess they decided it was safer to control the destruction.
