Schneider takes over at QB

Two weeks into the season, and the Austin Wranglers already have their first major position change, albeit one that was forced upon them.

Starting quarterback Jeff Terrell has left the team, citing an opportunity to try out with the Dallas Cowboys.

That means fellow rookie Matt Schneider will get tonight's start against the Lubbock Renegades.

"Just when you think you've seen everything this game gets even more bizarre," said Wranglers coach Ben Bennett. "I don't ever remember the starting quarterback of a professional team just leaving."

Terrell won the job in the preseason camp, but was mostly ineffective in his debut last week against Corpus Christi, completing 17 of his 34 passes for 213 yards.

Schneider threw for 3,534 yards and 31 touchdowns for NAIA MidAmerica Nazarene last season.

On Friday, the Wranglers signed veteran Michael Wall, who is playing in his fourth indoor football season.

The pay is probably better than being an AF2 quarterback, ha.

Jeff Terrell (born January 24, 1985) was a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs who was waived in August of 2007, former starting quarterback and captain for the Princeton University football team and 4th all-time leader in passing yards at Princeton. 2006 Asa S. Bushnell Cup winner, as Ivy League Player of the year. Terrell led University School to its first ever football playoff appearance in 2002. In 2006 he took Princeton to its first Ivy league Championship since 1995.

Terrell appeared in several preseason games, going 15 for 25 in the last one, but was cut before the beginning of the season

Interesting. Sounds like a guy we might bring in to throw during practice and such so Tony and Brad's arms don't fall off.

I guess it couldn't hurt anythings to bring him to camp to have an extra arm around..... but I don't see him doing much more than that. I wish him the best of luck though.
