Arizona's draft

If the Cardinals end up w/ a top 5 pick (very likely at this point) and the top rated players on their board are still available (let's say Quinn and Calvin Johnson), do they pull the trigger and make Leinart, Boldin or Fitzgerald available for a draft day trade? Do they pull the trigger on Peterson (coming back from injury)? Or do they trade down?

Trade down is probably the likeliest scenario, but if they feel that Quinn or Johnson is a significant longterm upgrade over their current starters, then I can see them pulling the trigger (i.e. Brees/Rivers).

Question is, what would you be willing to give up for anyone of those three?

If they were to draft a QB/RB/WR they need to forfeit their right to have a NFL team.

The real question is why are we talking about the most irrelevent franchise in sports?

To answer your question, they won't be trading any of the big three. Why would you when there's so much talent on the board at positions where you're thin? The cost of any of those three you mentioned would be far too high anyway.

The Cards will be picking higher then the cowboys. They won't trade one of those players for a mid to late first round pick.

And I wouldn't give up more then that for any of them. And why in hell would they trade Leinart? They just drafted him THIS YEAR and he's shown a lot of promise. I know they're the Cards, but c'mon, they aren't THAT stupid.

And I'm pretty sure their WRs are locked up for awhile so not only do they NOT have to trade any of them, but it would hurt their salary cap to do so.

NOTHING!

Romo is the QB of now and of the future. He's also more experienced than Leinart. He's had 4 years in the NFL learning the system and the style and play of the game.

Also, for the WRs, they would take too much to trade for. I really like the future of Hurd, Crayton, and Austin. Call me nuts, but I'm serious. Also, Owens and Glenn have a few more years left so Hurd and Austin will have enough time to develop. Parcells obviously sees something in Austin because otherwise he'd be gone. Parcells has cut a few people during the season, but not Austin. He turns late round picks/ UDFAs into real contributors. Romo, Crayton, Reeves, N. Jones, Fowler, Ratliff, and a few others.

The Cardinals should trade down and spend every last draft pick they have on their lines, hoping some of their picks stick.

I realize the Quinn over Leinart situation is unlikely, but SD took Manning/Rivers over Brees, Dallas picked up Walsh when we already had Aikman.

Brees had yet to play well when they took Rivers. Chances are, Rivers would have started over Brees had he not held out.

Leinart has shown that he can be really good already.

What he said. Plus Jimmy took Walsh because he was familiar with him already. He wanted to hedge his bet at a time when Aikman had not even taken a snap. Leinart is already playing and showing some good potential.

Calvin Johnson could be a good NFL receiver. I think the outlook is good, but the fact is that he is still in college. Boldin and Fitzgerald are already doing it at the NFL level. They have proven they can make the next step. Unless the Cardinals thought they would lose either in the next year, then I would not trade either one of them away to take a rookie receiver.

they can't trade lienart. first round picks don't get traded after 1 season. you see how much of a cap hit that would be? why would they trade off either of their wr's? just draft waht you need but teams don't trade their young good players very often, and why would you. you have two of the btter young wr's in the nfl, why would you trade them?

Why? Didnt the Lions draft a WR in the first round 15 years straight?:laugh2:

Personally, they better take Petterson imo

They need to fix their O-line. Peterson gets beat up in college and if he played behind that Cardinals line, he will really get beat up in the NFL. If they can get Peterson in the first and then spend the rest of their picks and free agency on O-line, they could be good.

Arizona needs linemen (defensive and offensive), period. With the salaries and ability on that team only a ******* would draft quarterback or receiver. Those are the only two positions that they are solid at and this scenario doesn't happen. They aren't going to trade Leinart, Fitzgerald or Boldin but I could see them moving the pick.
