Arkin will be your starting Center

God help us. He sucks worse than any lineman I've ever seen play.

He has defied the odds and shown that it is in fact possible to play the center position with less skill and aptitude than Phil Costa, a truly stunning feat.

All things taken into consideration I think he's doing an ok job.

He's still a year away IMO.

arkin = kosier

he needs time and reps but he is a good athlete at the position who will get better with reps.

he hopefully isn't starting for a couple years but he is a solid swing back up with long term upside.

I agree with all of that.

People are forgetting he's a small school guy from Podunk State.

He'll get better.

After re-watching the 1s Arkin did have a solid showing. It wasn't great but he did a whole lot better and he held his own in odd front looks against the NT. What Arkin did well was to be able to redirect his man to either guard for a combo block and he's pretty fast for OL. The holding call on him was ticky tacky.

His over aggressiveness during pass protection is what lead him downfield because he was always trying to find someone to hit when he went uncovered.

There were some mistakes but he was head and shoulders better than the last game.

Dockery was better too but I still have a wary eye against him.

Smith let Liuget get inside of him to blow up a Felix Jones run to the left.

Free let Shaun Phillips also beat him to the inside and pressure Romo but Romo was able to evade and get the pass off.

Overall the line did better but they really need to get Livings in there and Costa to get some continuity with the starters.

Smith looked vulnerable inside the whole game.

He'll get it squared away though. He is the least of my worries.

I don't know why but I just have a bad feeling about Doug Free.

you must not have watched alot of football, i ask you to name one player that has had to play 2 games in less than a week at a new position (center) and come out of there looking pretty decent.

book it. that illegal man downfield on him was bogus

Umm ... how about the holding?

I agree on the illegal man downfield, but I think he's at least a year away from challenging at center ... and that's if he works on it full time.

I think he's going to end up as a backup guard and continue to be groomed for that position.

Arkin may very well be a decent center in the future but this season he is totally unacceptable as backup to an already injured "starter",,, odds are that Costa is unacceptable as well but we will have to wait and see.

The guy was way to prone to penalties. I know what he is up against with the challenges we've placed on him, but I'm tired of making excuses for offensive linemen.

Considering this was only the second game in his entire life he played center he was not too bad.

But the SD D was very vanilla. Regular season there would be stunts and the like.

But the kid has shown promise NOW.

Still needs to get stronger but that will take another year

This.

Without focused attention on him during the game the most apparent problem I saw was difficulty anchoring again.

No one expects him to be playing at starter level today. He remains a project. Yes, he'll be a liability if he has to play much this year. But its great that he is getting some reps and showing he could be a player in the future.

Arkin's true position is LG. It's a shame that the injuries at C are keeping him from developing at the position where he would most likely be successful.

Arkin has shown improvement, but Costa is still better at this point.

Another year of weight training and Arkin could be the guy.
