Arm strength

Critics never said he lacks arm strength. I really dont know where people get that from.

He cant throw the deep ball because he lacks accuracy. That was the point coming out of college. And the accuracy is still a problem for him. Just look at especially the first half of yesterdays game.

Boom.

we had really good qb play last night and the defense hung in there a long time until the offense could get going was a really good team win

Linehan should use the deep ball more instead of forcing it to Dez so much.

Last night was a prime example of what I have been screaming at the TV the first 2 weeks.

We have been forcing it to Dez far too much. It should never be forced there. I'm not sure why he isn't throwing it to Beasley tho. He seems to be open a lot.

I think after last night we can put the dak can't throw deep to bed. He threw 2 absolute rockets while in the middle of a dead run. Can we please at least put that myth to bed? Please

Ironically, the only guys that ever said Dak had a weak arm were the Romo apologists. Its no like Romo was known for his arm strength.

It only looks like were forcing it because Dez doesnt get much separation. They have a great secondary.

yes Dak can throw it hard when he is on the run...but in the pocket standing still he has little zip

Dak is certainly struggling a bit, does not seem to be as crisp as last year. He does though appear to excel when throwing from outside the pocket

I think he's protecting from INTs and our receivers aren't as open as opposing teams..... Keep doing what you are doing.

Spot on Dak puts more on a ball than Romo ever did Romo had a super release which a lot of people confused with arm strength because the ball came out so quickly

Romo also had pinpoint accuracy. The accuracy will come most college QBs do not have the accuracy because in college most WR are open by a mile and accuracy is not really needed.

Dak does not have an arm like Favre or Elway but then very few did. Most big arms like Jumungous and Jeff George were pathetic actually getting it to the WRs. Dak's arms is strong enough.
Joe Montana and Peyton Manning did rather well with arms about the same strength as his. He actually has a stronger one then theirs. OF course Manning never regained his arm strength after his neck injury but before that it was certainly decent.

Nice comparisons.

hes throwing harder this year
last year he throw some scary passes really hang there
like a pitcher can throw very good strike but throwing strike with your fastball its much harder. i like the harder passes and i think he will be ok maybe this change takes a little time.

Good reality check. We have a second year player, whose receivers don't leave much room for error, who to his credit, doesn't want to turnover the ball.

Also we are blessed to 2 great kickers in our punter and FG so field position is also a very valuable asset to protect and Dak seems to understand that very well.

I don't think the problem is that he can't. I think the problem is that up until last night, he really wasn't doing that much. You have to throw deep, even if you don't complete them. Once he started throwing deep, the run was easier, the short stuff was there like always and the Safeties and LBs had to play honest. Just bad football to allow opposing defenses to play us for only 20 yards from scrimmage line.

Is the complaint that he can't throw deep or is it that he doesn't throw deep to challenge defenses from the pocket?

I'm hoping he is just out of whack while learning; new things, how to be a NFL QB... and that he returns back to last years form or some variation of it.

I really want to see his deep ball while stationary in the pocket.

Dak has plenty of arm to make any throw. He doesn't have the bazooka like Rodgers, but it certainly isn't the pea shooter of Kellen Moore either. He is composed, accurate and makes good decisions. I will take a solid arm and these things over a poor decision maker with a cannon any day.
