I was really excited for Danny Coale this year. I thought he was going to come into training camp ready to go, but it looks like that knee still needs more time.

I can't help but think that he is losing precious time. And if anything the guy was already working on borrowed time to begin with. I hope his knee can settle down soon and we can see what he has to offer, but at this point it looks like he will be lucky to make it on the PS again.

Armstrong on the other hand seems to be a player who gives us an element that we're otherwise lacking on our offense. The true deep threat that keeps the defense honest. I think that potential gives him a spot on the team. Especially when you look at all the other receivers on our team.

Honorable mention would be Rogers, but I think he is another PS candidate.

I don't think either one makes the team to be honest.

Danny still has plenty of time as long as the knee doesn't continue to have problems.

I don't have a great feeling about Coale. Too many factors working against him thus far. The injury thing really bothers me and the fact that he is still practice squad eligible makes the prospects of making the 53-man roster that much less in my opinion.

Given that in my mind this team has three solid slot options (Austin, Harris, Beasley), a bigger wideout who lines up outside has a better chance of sticking around than Coale does.

As for Armstrong, I need to read about his speed being on display before I think he'll stick around. I have not read anything about that yet.

Coale is a bigger wideout for the outside. He's not huge but far from a shrimp.

Rogers is the only guy I've heard anything about among the 3 so far. Preseason games will be key for these guys.

I have the sneaking feeling he gets stashed before the season on PUP. I do agree this WR group is very close, the way I hear it Green, Rogers, and Beneford are all nipping at Beasely's heels. Wish our OLine has this much depth.

I'd have to say the Cowboys envision 3rd rd. pick Williams as their "speed guy"..........Armstrong will have to grab a spot via special teams play and potential

I hope the team does not give up on Coale, but he may end up on the Practice Squad again at best. The top four are set in stone and Beasley seems to be tearing it up early. Coale is going to struggle to push his way in there unless he shows something on special teams imo.

This is so weird because he never missed a single game at Tech in his four "non-redshirt" seasons.

He's not eligible for PUP. Only guys that are put on PUP at the beginning of camp are eligible to be on it for the beginning of the season.

And the only one of those guys nipping at Beasley's heels is Rogers.

he is in a very tough position. if he is not out there practicing, he is not showing what he can or can not do. I also think he is going to get caught up in number game. with austin, dez, wiliams and harris gauranteed roster spots. he is battling beasly and rodgers (I htink that;s his name) for the final spot. beasly is a strictly a slot reciever. so is harris. so how many slot recievers do you need? he will probably be cut. no big loss

Don't see Coale making the 53. Beasley is in. A spot left perhaps between Armstrong and Rogers. Armstrong has NFL experience but Rogers has size and is flashing. Time will tell.

I have no doubt we will go six at receiver with the depth we have there compared to some other positions.
Agreed. But, at least right now, I think they would both still be off the rost. Dez, Miles, Williams, Harris, Beasley, Rogers.

Are you sure about that PUP beginning of camp assignment? If that is the case than I am guessing we better hope for practice squad, IMO Coale has no chance of staying on the boys PS once there. I agree Rogers is getting some media coverage.

even if we go 6 i don't think either of them make the team. i think beasley and rogers will be the last 2 guys on the depth chart.

Armstrong is really fighting an up hill battle at this point. He's 30 years old and when it comes time to trim the roster, it will be tough to keep him over any 24 year old. He pretty much has to show something really special to stick.

What about Jared Green? He was catching people's eyes in OTAs, but I haven't heard him mentioned at all since.
