Arnold Palmer has died

The man known as the King in golf was the original endorsement king. The Pennzoil ads - who can forget his advertisements with O.J. for Hertz? There are few athletes that were as beloved as Palmer was in his prime. Arnie's Army was no joke. His rivalry with Jack Nicklaus elevated golf and led to a great era in the sport. Driving the green at Cherry Hills in the 1960 U.S. Open to begin an epic comeback win was legendary - this was during the time when they played 36 holes on the last day of the Open.

He was also quite a hit with the ladies - there was an anecdote that went around that said that Arnold Palmer got more tail than a public toilet seat. Not sure why I remember this, but the mind goes to weird places sometimes.

RIP to a trend setter and a legend for all times.

I would recommend watching the special documentary that the Golf Channel did on Mr. Palmer. I'm sure it will be airing this week.

As great of a golfer Mr. Palmer was, he was an even better man and I don't see there ever being another Arnold Palmer.

Sorry to hear this... Arnie transcended golf and made it a game everyone wanted to play...

RIP to a legend...

And this is in the Fan Zone because.....why?

I put it in the Fan Zone where it stayed an appropriate time. Mr Palmer was a living legend who was a great human being.

I gently suggest you ask the staff member next time.

He is right up there with the greats. A man who was a class act always. If the kids now had athlete role models like him the world would be a better place.
