However, its stated that he himself stated that he had a bad 40 time. He took it to heart it and did it over and it showed better. From 4.94 to 4.7.

4.7 is decent not great. But just shows he cares about production.

the 40 time is not a big deal.
i was more worried if the high ankle sprain cost more than 6 months to get over.

i am sure he is a nice player.
the highlights looked nice also.
he is rated as a 2nd rounder.

All I ever heard Charleton claim was that during this final season at Michigan, he had a bad high ankle sprain to start that season, played through it. He wasn't getting spot duty, either.

The combine is like 3 months after the season ends. If he ever mentioned the H.A.S. it was to point out he'd have produced even better during the season if he'd been playing on more than 'one foot'. I don't think he ever used to talk about his 40 time.

It's often overlooked but playing at a high level in pain is part of what made D Ware so awesome. Hope this kid is made of similar stuff.
My only worry is the severity of the spring. Was it blown out of proportion by his camp to make him look tougher? Or was it really something extremely painful and discomforting like they normally are? I'm hoping it's the latter of the two.

As odd as it sounds, he's one of the main draft picks I am most nervous about.

he was injured at the beginning of the season.
what i want to know is how the high ankle sprain lasted 6 months or 7 months - is that typical?

High ankle sprain typically takes a long time to heal. You basically shouldn't do anything physical on the leg for a long time for it to heal completely. It's better to have a complete break because the full healing of a complete fracture takes shorter time. If he played on it then his healing process really didn't start until the season was over.

There's straight line speed in shorts and then there's FOOTBALL SPEED in pads. This kid is plenty fast enough from what I saw. Too many guys put too much stock in the stopwatches.

We had a spectacular hit in DWare, but over the last 15 years the front office thought it was bringing in a real compliment to him and it fizzled. Anthony Spencer was the closest we ever got to realistically complimenting Ware off the edge, and Spencer only showed flashes. We all called him "Anthony Almost" as in "Anthony ALMOST got a sack there!"

So being gun shy when they bring somebody in & say 'at last we've found THAT guy, the edge rusher we needed!', it's understandable.

this article was end of Dec.
yet the excuse on his bad combine times were blamed on the same injury 2 months later?
or was it a different injury?
His combine 10 yard time was good and it improved at his Pro Day. His 3 cone was also good.

The forty time is meaningless for a 277 pound player, especially when the 10 and 3 cone are available.

i am not worried about his 40 time.
i was just concerned about if he is a slow healer.

It's hard for an ankle sprain to heal if you keep playing on it. IT was probably OK by the combine but it likely affected his training. HE might have been advised to rest the ankle after the season for a month or two.

Yes. He said in one of the articles on him that during the season he couldn't push off with one of his legs. I didn't know when I read that that his injury was a high ankle sprain.

Yeah and when you consider he really came on during the end of the season it makes a lot of sense as opposed to the notion that he is an inconsistent loafer which has been bandied around.

He only had one relatively poor combine result, his forty which is irrelevant for a de.
The rest were better than most players his size.
