Several prominent BCS coaches are pushing their university presidents to petition the NCAA for an NFL draft opt-out rule that would allow eligible underclassmen who declare for the draft to return to school if they don't hire an agent--much like in college basketball. The cutoff date likely would be after the Scouting Combine--possibly March 1--which would allow players time to judge their draft prospects. . .

That sounds like a good idea. Give the players a window after end of combine to change their minds--if they've never hired an agent. Only problem is that some players aren't invited to the combine and don't get to show their stuff until later in pro days at various locations around the country. But this could be worked out so don't see any problem in making this change.
