I would not be suprised to see Henson come out of that pack as the starter at some point down the line.

I would be surprised if Henson made the roster.

I would. Henson == Fail

Depends on your opinion of failure. I must admit I wanted Henson to thrive and be our QB for years, just didn't work out.

Henson and Sanders are the only 2 people I know of that started a baseball game (as a Yankee) in Yankee stadium...and also started a football game as a Dallas Cowboy in Dallas.

My 2 favorite teams in their respective sports.

Henson did not make it here but still accomplished something that I could only dream of. That does not equate him to failure in my book.

Let me guess, you like the Lakers too?

He succeeded in swindling money from two very rich men, I guess that counts as something.

All that money, no production at any level in either sport. Its a swindle, a heist. The Drew Henson con was well thought out and perfectly executed.

I heard he is working on a jump shot.

He may be a bust but that is not the same as swindling money from anyone. Dallas took a low risk chance on him and it did not pan out.

Roger the Dodger was the player I admired most when I started playing 6 and 8 man football when I was young, before I moved onto 11 players in Pop Warner.

In 3rd grade I did a report on Lou Gehrig, who I never saw play, but became my favorite baseball player of all time.

Actually I was a 76'er fan in the 70's, because of Dr. J !

I was a Boston Bruins fan too, Bobby Orr.

I have no hate for the player, as it appears many do.

I didn't see him not try hard to be a quarterback on our team, even to the point of attempting to completely alter his throwing motion, going to Europe to play. Did he complain? Did he refuse to work? Was he a locker room cancer? Where are the reasons for the venom, other than because he had supporters on this forum?

It's just a case of he wasn't able to do it. I can't fault him for trying and continuing to try.

BTW, this is not directed at you, but an addition to what you have said.

I agree 100%.
Although he's considered by many as a failure, he's still out there trying, even though he's already made his millions and others in his situation would've quit a long time ago.

He's always kept a positive outlook, agreed to being coached, and has said all the right things.

And although he's missed his opportunity to be a star, it may not be too late for him to have a Tommy Maddox type of a career.

Actually, he gave up the portion of his Yankee money that was unfulfilled in his contract, to join the Cowboys.

Fact of the matter is, he gave it his best shot. A guy who "swindles" doesn't go to NFLE.

And no one is going to convince me that Parcells didn't screw things up with him. I'm not saying he was a sure shot hall of fame QB...or even a starter for that matter...but Parcells did a lousy job.

As good as Parcells was for Romo was as bad as he was for Henson.

I agree, and I don't understand all the hate. He didn't work out, so what? He sure as heck tried.

And just how did Bill Parcells do that?

Parcells, just like most professional coaches are known for playing mind games and serves as a good barometer of how tough one is mentally. It was all pretty much set up for Henson, Vinny and Bledsoe were going to eventually retire, so all he had to do was beat out Romo for the eventual starting position. Parcells let the guy ride the pine so he could sit and learn and only played him twice his first year, garbage time against the Ravens and 2 Quarters against the Bears because Vinny was having shoulder problems. Romo clearly outplayed him during the Preseason and when Bledsoe arrived, it made Henson expendable.

I can't think of one guy that Parcells let walk for reasons other than financial and discipline issues that ended up doing fairly well with another team. Drew Henson, Quincy Carter and definately Chad Hutchinson never had any mental toughness and just like most of the guys Parcells let walk due to lack of talent, being weak mentally and drug problems, I doubt any of them will have any long term success in the NFL.

People can blame Parcells for alot of things, but he didnt ruin Drew Henson.

Mikey Mikey...I didn't say he ruined him. But I did say he did a lousy job with him.

The kid regressed every season. They messed with his mechanics and he looked well, in a word, "robotic". Each season, he looked worse...more unsure...

I just think he did a lousy job with him. Some guys respond to Parcells coaching, other don't.

How about Henson was never all that to begin with and was unable to learn more. How about Henson just plain stank and all the coaching in the world cannot change that.

All in all, Henson was obviously too mentally fragile to operate under Coach Parcells.

And I have concerns he won't develop under Childress either. If he fails to do that, in a completely new and supposedly more nurturing environment, I think the chants of "ruining" and "lousy job" can pretty much be put to rest.

They did mess with his mechanics, which is a somewhat controversial practice, but obviously they made that decision because they felt it would help him.

He also had the benefit of working with Sean Peyton, who helped Kerry Collins revive his career in New York and of course we know what he was able to do for Romo.

The bottom line was one guy was progressing from year to year and another guy wasnt. I believe Henson went to Miami and then to another club that escapes me at the moment and both teams decided not to bring him on.
